The holy trinity of Philippine travel posts
1. Picture ng MOA globe
2. "Goodbye Philippines, hello [province/island]"
3. "Im in a bad place right now. Not mentally, im just in the Philippines"
Regardless of ideology, this "monologuing directly into the camera about social justice" is so corny. It's the total death of subtext, turning art into pure propaganda. It's bad writing, poorly staged, etc. If you support the message, you should want a better scene to tell it!
my therapist changed my life when he taught me there are 4 types of conversation:
1) small talk (weather, etc)
2) swapping (you tell a story, I tell a story)
3) listening (you tell a story, I listen/validate)
4) problem-solving (you tell me a story, I help solve the problem)
people constantly ask me how i watch multiple films a day while being a full time student as if they didn't spend multiple hours a day doomscrolling on their phones
reading a novel after reading someone like baldwin or lispector is extremely difficult. i’m not trying to be pretentious either but classics (modern included) raise the bar so high everything else feels lacklustre and most prose is just not cutting it
i would say fandom is great but really the best thing it's good at is finding you a group of 12-15 mutuals whom you would die for and then ignoring the rest of the fandom as a whole
i need to educate myself more on so many topics, i lack knowledge in so many ways and i don’t think ill ever be fully satisfied with any achievements if i feel there’s something i have yet to study
