The Bad Queer you forced out of the community could be the person who would have saved your life. Is them having weird kinks or bad takes really worth having less people able to stand up against fascism?
Maybe sometimes the take will be bad enough, but that math needs to change.
The only weapon we're going to have in the next four years is our capacity to care for one another. We need to do a better job of that. We need to consider, very strongly, which of our divisions are meaningful and which are bullshit.
@mommilph Yeah I had to fuck with settings and enable hibernation to do that instead. My ass can't sleep if my computer thinks sleep mode is rave mode.
And as like, someone who grew up doing the teenage 4Chan liberal (before 4Chan was overrun by the non-joke bigots, because pretending to be a bigot attracts real bigots) version of this, it really did resonate with me, at the time.
I got better. Mostly.
See the thing is that, at the time, there were a lot of people doing less extreme versions of this.
Like I'm not saying it's *good*, but there were plenty of people who were like "I am a very intelligent and caring person and I'm hiding it under joke bigotry."
This show is so weird because this guy will say the deepest most profound shit ever then turn around and call every single member of his team a slur. He’s insane.
Like the heart of the show is the tension between the part of House that cares about people and the part of House that is trying to avoid how much caring hurts, to the point that he even deludes himself into thinking he doesn't care.
His supporters didn't vote for him to make their lives better. They voted for him to make life a living hell for those they hate. That's why this election remains close.
Actually if you aren't openly very into at least one fucked up kink I find you deeply untrustworthy.
Normie queers who pretend not to be horny are the ones posting shit onto all these Baby's First 4Chan harassment sites that have popped up.
Anyway, going back to not looking at Twitter again for a while, as this place is terrible and queer community on social media is more concerned with eating its own than solving any real problems.
"It is gross/weird/unnatural" is not a good reason to ever prevent anyone from doing anything.
If you cannot point to harm being caused by someone's actions, it is unethical for you to attempt to prevent them from engaging in them.
(Shouldn't need to be said, but for clarity's sake: It isn't "harm" if consent is given with proper understanding of the consequences of whatever act is being performed.)
I do not care what kinks people have, unless their method of indulging them involves inflicting harm on others.
This really feels like it should be the bare minimum for the queer community, but it very regularly is not.
