Dark Box Reveals: Secret UAE Moves to Encircle and Weaken Algeria Through Its Neighbors

Well-informed sources have told Dark Box of secret Emirati moves that, according to those sources, are intended to weaken Algeria and increase pressure on the country through its regional surroundings following Algiers’ decision to sever diplomatic relations with Abu Dhabi.

According to information obtained by Dark Box, the strategy is not based on direct confrontation. Instead, it seeks to expand influence around Algeria and exploit existing instability and political tensions along its borders. From Morocco in the west and Libya in the east to Mali, Niger and the wider Sahel in the south, Algeria increasingly views developments beyond its borders as directly connected to its national security.

Niger is particularly critical. It forms part of Algeria’s strategic depth and sits along the proposed Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline linking Nigeria, Niger and Algeria. Algeria’s recent military assistance to Niger therefore sent a wider message: Algiers does not intend to leave its southern security perimeter exposed to instability and growing foreign influence.

The surrounding geopolitical map explains the concern. Morocco is a close UAE partner and Algeria’s principal strategic rival. In Libya, Abu Dhabi spent years supporting Khalifa Haftar’s forces. Across the Sahel, meanwhile, competition for political, security and economic influence is intensifying.

According to Dark Box sources, the danger is not necessarily a formal alliance openly directed against Algeria. It is the construction of multiple pressure points around the country — political influence, security relationships, economic interests and local networks capable of narrowing Algeria’s strategic space and forcing Algiers to confront simultaneous challenges along several fronts.

The confrontation has therefore moved beyond diplomacy. The central question now facing Algeria is whether Abu Dhabi is attempting to turn Algeria’s neighbors and the Sahel into pressure points within a broader plan to weaken the country and contain its regional influence.
