@BallparkPal These HR distances are ridiculous for 1 game. They supposedly use a humidor which has proven to tame the HR rates in AZ/COL very well, so what is causing this - is the heat/wind sufficient to explain this
@ScottJenstad Reply from my AI query: Yes. Following Major League Baseball’s decision to standardize ball storage across the sport, all 30 Triple-A and Double-A facilities use an official humidor to regulate baseballs. This includes Las Vegas Ballpark, the home of the Las Vegas Aviators.
@CyrtHogg Some saying these were "bandbox" HR, but thats dead wrong. The avg distance of the top 5 HR was almost 450 ft - thats gone in a canyon. Supposedly they use a humidor to neutralize altitude. A's r targeting Vegas for their next home park, so why would it be much different?
@JonPgh Just ran xRBI for Bregman and its actually pretty high at 9.9/100 PA - his actual is 15.5 below x, an astonishingly big gap for 40% of a season - its already about top 5 worst for full season and not that far below those. Wuff.
@Bobbybigbucks So sorry for your loss. Never had the pleasure of meeting in person, but competed in dozens of high stakes leagues - always looked to see where he was drafting and who he was taking. A great player and always a gentleman. The world is a little smaller.
@CPTowers Have had a few, always w endoscopy. Prep has improved from what it was 20 years ago, so not too bad. Procedure itself is nothing - u go out in seconds and next thing u know u are awake in recovery - very lite sedation so recovery near immediate.
@edzitron In this regard AI doesnt sound all that different from the impact that word proc/spreadsheets had, allowing workers and esp contractors to easily produce impressive looking, voluminous tomes providing little real value. Nothing new under the sun.
@xwOBA_enjoyer doesnt count impact these numbers a great deal. Would think the big difference between RV of swinging strikes, called strikes and fouls has to do with when they occur in the PA. CS much less often w 2 stks, eg, only 60% fouls are strikes overall, etc.
@caseyboguslaw There was absolutely zero in Acuna's past that suggested he could hit RH at all. Unloading Roberts was fine, but having him be a part of the return, and then counting on him to be the everyday CF - it was a ridiculous notion.
@RobSilver Not sure if I have more saves or more closers rostered during the season on most teams at this point, though the former is rising far more quickly than the latter
@JClarkNBCS Sixers did well to make the playoffs and incredibly well to win the first series. They arent close to being a contender, but sign FA like they are. Need to stop w huge, long contracts to old stars, find upcoming guys. Embiib/Maxey cant carry a team in the playoffs.
@RunDMcD Fortunately Liberatore is so bad nobody would be tempted to use him even against PIT in favorable weather conditions. But the main point is good - never use the NFBC site for schedule info - last place u should look.
