Stronger healthcare. Greater resilience for Grenada.
Our President Dr. Abdulhamid Alkhalifa and HE Dennis Cornwall, Minister of Finance, signed a US$60 million loan for Project Polaris: the Grenada Smart Academic Hospital.
Together with our partners, @KuwaitFund and @SaudiFund_Dev, we are supporting the construction of the modern, 250-bed smart academic hospital, a transformative investment in Grenada’s healthcare system and future.
For Small Island Developing States like Grenada, delivering high-quality healthcare is uniquely complex. Geographic isolation, limited economies of scale, exposure to climate-related shocks and constrained fiscal space place enormous pressure on national systems.
This project responds directly to those challenges.
The Grenada Smart Academic Hospital will significantly expand bed capacity while integrating digital technologies, smart systems and advanced medical services. Designed to meet today’s needs and adapt to tomorrow’s demands, it will serve as a center of excellence for tertiary care, medical training and research.
By reducing the need for overseas treatment, the hospital will strengthen national resilience to public health emergencies, climate-related events and future shocks.
