Masih Alinejad, an Iranian-American journalist used to live under Sharia Law in Iran. She shares her experience
“In Iran, I was told, if I take off my hijab I will be hanged with my hair by God. I'll get kicked out from school. I'll get lashes. I'll get jailed. I'll get fined. I'll get beaten up in the street every day by morality police. If I get raped, it's my fault.
If I take off my hijab, I won't be able to exist as a woman in my homeland.
In the West, I am told if I share my stories, then I will cause Islamophobia. I am a woman from the Middle East, and I am scared of Islamic laws. I am scared of all the brutalities that I have experienced. Phobia is an irrational fear, but my fear and the fear of millions of other women who lived under Sharia law in the Middle East is rational.”
The BBC has announced that the presenter, Martine Croxall, broke the rules because of her “facial expression”.
I would expect any woman, or man, to make a similar expression when a teleprompter shows ‘pregnant people’ instead of ‘women’.
Another day of shame for the BBC.
Jess phillips should resign
Today she publicly called me a liar to the whole nation when she knew i wasnt lying.
Im a grooming gang survivor who has been called a liar her whole life by public services and councils to try and cover up the horrendous abuse they let happen to me as a child.
She has now just done the same as they did to me for years, all to save her own skin.
How can she continue to be safeguarding minister for women and children?
There’s no reason this man shouldn’t be in police custody right now. This is incitement to racist violence. It’s a criminal offence. We can prosecute & jail him. It’s what he deserves & needs. It’s what our society needs. Inciting racist violence is not a free speech issue
Keir Starmer, Sadiq Khan, Lammy and Shabana Mahmoud still haven’t said anything about last night in London just hours after the attack in Manchester. 4O arrested, 6 for assaulting police officers. They had plenty to say about September the 13th
It is with great sadness that we share the news of Dickie Bird's passing.
The Yorkshireman was a wonderful player and enjoyed a famed career as one of the game's most beloved umpires.
He died peacefully at his home, aged 92. Rest in peace, Dickie. 🤍
You cannot generalise because this will come back at you with what about those on benefits who have never worked but they spend their benefits on designer clothes/brand new phones/cars/alcohol/drugs. Perhaps no benefits to those who have not paid in!
@JohnDalziel@BBCCWR I think you would give CWR a fresh voice that might get listeners tuning in to what has become a little dull station in my view. Good luck and have a blast.
