I've recently learned that some projects (Aptos, Sui, Celestia, etc) let insiders with locked tokens stake and earn rewards. I am torn about this.

On the one hand, more staking means more security. So long insiders still risk slashing, it's a good thing.

On the other hand insiders get their tokens at a deep discount (or for free) while the general public has to pay "full price." Only allowing the public to hedge dilution from inflation via staking helps reestablish balance.

I've also learned these projects let insiders sell their staking rewards immediately, sometimes years before their tokens vest.

This is just wrong.

It's a backdoor unlock that allows privileged insiders to dump on ordinary users for a quick profit. Didn't we learn the dangers of this approach in the last bull market?

I'm chronically disappointed by the tokenomics of most new projects. There are too many red flags and too much of a focus on rewarding insiders and early investors--as opposed ensuring long term sustainability and a path to neutrality.

If we don't sort this out ourselves then the regulators will.
