ICP Founder Pushes for Decentralized Governance Following Bitget Hack
Dominic Williams, founder of @DFINITY and the Internet Computer, has spoken out about on-chain action after @Bitget's $387.5 million hack on September 24, 2026.
Williams suggested ICP's Network Nervous System (NNS) proposals that would freeze the hacked funds, as they would encourage cooperation across blockchains and lower the risk of theft.
The statement positions decentralized governance at the forefront of tackling large hacks, rather than relying solely on individual chains or CEXes.
Bitget said its protection fund will reimburse customers and that it began gradually resuming withdrawals on September 28.
Williams wrote that “DFINITY hopes that Bitget is going well and that THORChain and similar decentralized networks” should help freeze the hacked funds.
