Securing accommodation for homeless individuals with pets can be particularly challenging, as many emergency and temporary housing providers are unable to accept dogs.
Big thank you to @lpoolcouncil & @PoppyLegion for their collaborative work this week.

Fifteen years after the end of the Iraq War, we pause to honor the service, sacrifice, and resilience of the men and women who answered the call of duty.

Thank you so much to everyone that has supported the sleep out, our aim was to raise awareness for homelessness in our region and how it effects military service service leavers but to reach the fundraising target really is fantastic.

Councillor Sam Gorst has supported @BlockCic with a range of issues over the past year. It is a charity that deserves far more recognition for the vital support it provides to veterans, including advice, direct support and accommodation for some of the most vulnerable people in our communities. Immediate action and resources are often provided at the very first point of contact.
From my perspective, @lpoolcouncil must now begin taking its Gold Armed Forces Covenant status seriously and put in the work required to ensure that recognition is both warranted and deserved. I have identified a number of gaps and failings and I will not hesitate to hold the Council to account where improvements are needed. It is our duty to safeguard those who deserve a home, support and dignity.
It is time to properly prioritise the welfare of, and investment in, those who have risked their lives for our security and freedoms. As a councillor, I do not believe enough is currently being done, but I will continue pushing for change.
84 veterans and service leavers asked our small charity for immediate housing and homelessness support in the first four months of 2026.
