By letting negative thoughts pass rather than stay, no matter how tempting it is to think them over and no matter the topic, periods of time are created in my mind where my nervous system isn’t triggered and can calm down and actually heal. #babysteps
Today I #learned an easier first step to rewire my brain after stressful periods in life. Instead of trying to change my reaction to triggers right away, I can start by observing what I allow to hang out in my mind throughout the day and redirect focus when it doesn’t serve me.
Today I observed what thoughts come in: 99% of wandering thoughts were in one way or another negative. An issue to solve, proving someone wrong or emotional flashback… with my day unconsciously being spent in so much negative space, no wonder my nervous system feels unbalanced.
It reminded me how important it is to filter what thoughts you allow to stay around in your mind. How this simple observation let me redirect my focus on the present and not get consumed by passing negative images in my head. #Consciousness#mindfulness
