On this day in 2016:
Madison Bumgarner threw a complete-game shutout and Conor Gillaspie hit a 3-run homer as the Giants defeated the Mets 3-0 in the NL Wild Card Game

I’m the guy at NHL HQ who’s in charge of making sure all of our major events get overshadowed by things in other sports, they gave me a huge raise for putting the season opener at 5 pm on a weekday at the same time as Game 1 of the MLB playoffs
The SEC says in a statement that the drop-kick onside kick recovered by Tennessee against Texas was "incorrectly officiated" and should have resulted in a 5-yard penalty against Tennessee.
Arch Manning is UNDEFEATED (10-0) as a starter at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium, including wins over THREE top-10 teams (No. 1 Ohio State, No. 3 Texas A&M and No. 9 Vanderbilt) 🤘🏻
He is the ONLY Longhorn starting QB to knock off THREE top-10 opponents at home in a career.
They didn’t bother anyone. Just a group of desi college kids living the American dream by simply enjoying their college team comeback and win an incredible game.
But we live in a world where platforms are run on racist comments to stoke fear, anger and create division.
College Gameday is heading to Austin, Texas this week to see #1 Ohio State play #2 Texas.
Senior QB Troy Smith will lead Ohio State against freshman Colt McCoy and the defending national champions.
Idk why all the blame is being put on Butera for the blown saves, the whole problem here is they're operating with four starters and have to hamstring themselves as a result. The bullpen looks like this because of a top-down decision
Okay, let's do better this time #natitude
1) Lose less than 100 games (barely)
2) Abrams is not traded in season
3) Crews ends up back in MLB and improves
4) Nasim Nunez breakout, Jacob Young regression
5) Cade Cavalli is Nats lone All-Star
6) End season with a top 5 farm system
I will wrap up Jordan Pope gate with this thought:
It would be easy to say something like this “ruins” a legacy. But it’s simply not true.
Jordan led Texas to a Sweet 16 on a broken foot. He gave everything to Texas while he was here.
Legacy remains fully intact as far as I’m concerned.
Blake Butera on James Wood’s recovery:
“Yeah, it's been it's been pretty slow recently. Just hasn't subsided the way we'd like it to. So not a whole lot going on at the moment.“
Attention Nationals fans: The legendary @ThomasBoswellWP made his @washingtonsun debut this morning with a column on the Nats. He'll be contributing to Nats coverage in a way only he can.
I'm giddy. The whole city should be.
