Early this morning, our dad went to be with his Lord. He helped countless people experience God. Now he is experiencing God in ways that surely surpass even his most cherished dreams. We were privileged to have a spiritual giant for a father. Funeral arrangements forthcoming.
One of my concerns in this conversation is that we are alienating firmly complementarian women—faithful sisters who are not trying to be pastors, but are feeling less inclined to serve because we have turned them into a battleground. #SBC23 https://t.co/S59vpU8RaC
How amateurs lead:
- Avoid conflict at all costs
- Act like they know everything
- Only hire people who are like them
How the pros do it:
- Lean into conflict
- Assume others know more
- Value opposing views and opinions
Political idolatry is so embedded that many followers of Christ could not imagine living their faith outside of their particular political affiliation. The Christian faith has existed long before modern day political categories. And it will exist long after them.
Leadership attracts “perks” and privileges. But special treatment has a way of fueling entitlement and institutionalizing complacency. Remember, humble passion always out performs privilege.
@MwangiJP@pastorjgkell That’s dealing with temptation, which we all face within ourselves when it comes to our own sin struggles. A trial, crisis, storm etc are a completely different issue. One is from within, temptation (see James 1:13-15) while the other is from without, a trial (see 2 Cor 1:3-11)
It's amazing to me how many Christians who rail against #cancelculture have cancelled their church membership over disagreement with their church leaders this past year over things that, compared to the gospel, will probably seem rather insignificant in light of eternity
Our politics is not our Faith. Somewhere, somebody missed the memo.
What an indicting and ironic picture at the scene of today’s Trumpian insurrection!
Jesus saves, but He does so by means of the cross not a president. Civil religion will never be true Christianity.
