The fastest way to command premium prices is to look a paying client in the eye and say, "Keep your money."

In 2018, I was sitting in the office of an "old money" landlord in Ikoyi waiting to negotiate a deal for my agency.

A young, loud guy walked in.
Gold chains clinking, designer clothes screaming for attention.

He wanted to rent one of the premium duplexes in the man's estate.

To prove he was serious, he literally unzipped a bag, dropped two years’ rent in raw cash on the mahogany desk, and leaned back, smiling.

Big boy!

He was ready. He had the funds.

The elderly landlord didn't even touch the money.

He looked at the boy, slowly sipped his tea, and said, "This property is not for you. Pack your money and leave."

The boy was furious. He shouted, insulted the old man’s pride, zipped up his bag, and stormed out.

I was shocked. I asked the landlord why he just rejected guaranteed millions of Naira in a tough economy.

The old man looked at me and dropped a masterclass in positioning:

This is the exact mistake destroying your brand right now.

You are suffering from "Revenue Starvation," so you accept every single client that has a heartbeat and a bank account.

The moment your audience realizes that having money isn't enough to buy your time... that they actually have to qualify for your expertise, your perceived value goes through the roof.
