Congratulations to Dr Caroline Weight and co-authors on the publication of their new paper in The Journal of Infectious Diseases:
“Disease-Attenuated Pneumococcal Biosynthesis Gene Mutants Invade the Mucosal Epithelium and Induce Innate Immunity.”
The study shows that even when certain #Streptococcus#pneumoniae mutants are attenuated for invasive disease, they can still invade the mucosal epithelium and trigger #innate immune responses.
