@radsechrist @BigPenny_ Which is why I think 4 was so important. We are more than martyrs for our kids. The problem is the metaphor breaks with the literal story in that way, which is probably why so many ppl disliked it.
As far as 5 goes, I don't think the solution was to go fully literal with it.

There is a Disarm ability in Quest if they want the weapons for themselves, but learning it would be a huge build investment for either of my nieces. Instead, I have a roster of guide PCs that they choose from for the mission, and one of them has the ability.

I'm running a #quest #ttrpg campaign for my nieces and they (and I) are big fans of the #tacticoolreloads series by @CrewCorridor. They'll soon run into two baddies armed with these, but some familiar music will precede them.
