Time to end the import everything model. We need to offer more good job opportunities to all those settled here, and buy more home produced goods and services.
We don't make anything anymore? With an annual output of £191 billion, the UK is the 9th largest manufacturer in the world. 2.7 million people are employed in this vital sector. Support our manufacturers and buy British! #UKmfg🇬🇧
Every day this week, in the M'cr Evening News, there's been a story about someone ending their own life.
Things might have started to feel normal for some, but for many, normal is a long way off.
Please just check in on each other.
Let's be kind.

The UK government needs to back UK jobs by buying more of things it needs from good value home sources. The government should allow for the extra tax revenue and lower benefit cost for things not imported. The French and Germans back their home producers.

When lockdown is lifted tax revenues will surge and the special spending on the pandemic will end. The way to get the deficit down is to promote a strong recovery. Hiking taxes would slow recovery and could mean a bigger deficit.
Every incentive and help should now be offered to the self employed and small business to get back to work and to expand their capacity. The way to bring the deficit down is to grow our economy and reward enterprise. More taxes would mean less recovery.
With so many now vaccinated we do need a timetable to unlock our economy. We need the mighty army of the self employed and small businesses to be allowed to open up again before we lose more of them from closures and losses.

The EU’s threats to trade in vaccines is a warning to us. We need to increase our own ability to make and grow things at home, not rely on too many EU imports. A new fishing, farming, energy and manufacturing policy is needed.
There are big opportunities for U.K. business in import substitution. Let’s cut the food miles by growing more at home. We need to increase the amount of U.K. value added in manufactures by making more components here, simplifying supply chains and creating more jobs.
