Manabu Otsuka the President of MAPPA said "Japanese animation studios should lead with global perspective".

This means their focus is catering towards a modern and global audience over just Japan. The very thing we all feared would happen for years.

MAPPA has signed a exclusive deal with Netflix to release anime on their platform with this ideology and the picture below is their statement

Recently Hideaki Anno "Evangelion" Director, KADOKAWA CEO, and SAO Director said anime shouldn't focus on Global fans.

Anime became popular because it was focusing on the Japanese. Shifting it away from that will lose the very reason anime has grown as much as it has.
