Haniel is the angel who brings Fenrix back from death.

I referenced a lot of iconic anime characters while designing her, but the challenge was making her feel familiar without feeling like anyone in particular.

I wanted her to feel warm, but never entirely approachable.

Uriel, the Angel of Strength and Blunt Weapons.

Strength, dwarves, rock, and heavy metal felt like a natural chain of ideas. The real challenge was giving a guitar to a character defined by raw power.

I combined a lute with heavy metallic elements to make it feel more like a weapon than an instrument.

Uriel was also one of my early experiments in pushing the angel designs beyond traditional expectations.
Looking back, I probably should have pushed even further.

Seraphiel was the first angel character I designed for Ember & Blade.

I drew inspiration from classic pin-up art and icons like Marilyn Monroe.
The goal was to capture a timeless kind of glamour and femininity.

Protagonists are always the hardest.

- Familiar, but not generic
- Unique, but not strange
- Memorable, but still believable

Fenrix went through many iterations before his identity finally clicked.
Looking back, I still see things I'd change. But that's design. Learn, move on, and try to do better next time.

I've been working on Ember & Blade for the past two years.

Ariella was the first character I designed after joining the team. Sometimes the very first sketch captures the strongest essence of a character. Ariella was one of those rare cases.
