To be clear about something:
My problem with special ed has nothing to do with some sort of animus toward kids with disabilities.
It is with the widespread fraud and I over accommodation that allows kids who might be difficult to get away with doing no work, and with the use of disability to excuse some kids from making life miserable for the rest of the students and the staff being held hostage by them.
"How can anyone want to bring a child into this world?"
"This is literally the worst time to have children!"
Have the people who say stuff like this even had a cursory glance at human history?
It’s almost impossible to not know about the personal lives of teachers when entering classrooms anymore. I know what their family looks like, who they sleep with, what political and social causes they support, what political party they are in, their favorite music, their favorite colors, etc.
News flash 🚨🚨🚨 It should not be like this in ANY work environment.
Restorative justice folks seem to think that explaining behavior excuses it
Look, maybe Johnny told his teacher to “fuck off” because he was hungry or didn't get enough hugs as a child
BUT THAT DOESN’T EXCUSE THE FACT THAT HE TOLD HIS TEACHER TO “FUCK OFF”
When schools convey the message (implicitly or explicitly) that the primary job of a teacher is to love students and make them feel safe, they run the risk of attracting young teachers who like kids, but lack deep content knowledge and have little to no understanding how learning happens.
These young teachers may begin to like kids a lot less when they’re solely responsible for educating 25 of them and have no idea what or how to teach them or even how to get them to stay in their seats.
Caring about and liking children is obviously a prerequisite for the job, but schools (and the education system as a whole) should be sending the message loud and clear that the primary role of a teacher is to pass on the knowledge to their students in the most effective way possible.
That message should alter the structure of teacher prep programs and the focus of the candidates who participate. It might also change who gravitates to the profession.
Do you see this tiny yellow dot? That's Israel, the only Jewish state in the world, about the size of New Jersey, surrounded by Muslim nations.
They're trying to convince you that Israel is the "occupier."
How delusional can they actually be?
Enforcing attendance laws would require involving police and the justice system, but the school system has decided those are racist.
I think it’s actually as simple as that.
States already have attendance laws on the books. They just refuse to enforce them.
We don’t need a media campaign to inform parents about the importance of attendance. The system needs to set clear, no excuse expectations. Pull them in consistently. If they don’t show and nothing improves, enforce the compulsory attendance law.
Gavin Newsom just said "We'll NEVER stop fighting for the dignity, rights, and freedom of all Californians."
Well...what about this person's dignity on Skid Row? What about this dog's rights? What about ANY of the people's rights or dignity on Skid Row? When will this fight start?
We’ve created a school system where the students who follow the rules get the least attention…because all the energy goes into managing the ones who don’t.
Teachers, have any of you ever had professional development on the wise, judicious use of consequences?
Never once have I see that
Building relationships! Positive interventions! Community circles!
Everything EXCEPT giving the kid a recess detention
The faster we train classical teachers, open classical schools, & educate parents about the advantages of classical education, the better millions of students will be. The faster mainstream education adopts key tenets of classical education, the better tens of millions will be.
"Misbehavior is a teaching opportunity."
Yeah, and a consequence needs to be a part of the teaching opportunity.
I'm sick of this treatment of consequences as a necessary evil.
They are pedagogical tools just likes models, examples, practice problems, and lectures
I’m not going to spend my own money for classroom materials, and I’m not going to ask for donations either. If taxpayers don’t want to pay for it, we will do without. All teachers should follow this policy.
This is DJ Gordon, a "non-binary" PA teacher that we exposed in 2024 for using "Mx" honorific while working as a kindergarten teacher for @ELANCOSD.
Gordon is back at it again and is now pushing the made-up "Mx" onto 2nd grade students.
These are the people teaching your kids
Teacher-student relationships matter.
But they are not the educational cure-all many claim them to be.
No relationship, no matter how strong, can fully overcome a classroom lacking structure, order, and meaningful consequences for misbehavior.
Tel Aviv is breathtaking, isn't it?
This is what a city in the Middle East looks like when its people are focused on progress and prosperity instead of building terror tunnels and rockets.
It is not "conservative" you utter buffoons. Women and girls have rights. Letting male bodies compete in "female sports" is a massive violation of the rights of WOMEN AND GIRLS. Feminism is not on the conservative side of the aisle.
