4 years ago, this young man had no hope that he wld ever attend college. We ran a GoFundMe for him here. Then Ms Edith Mukarati and her colleagues committed and saw him through the 4 yrs at NUST. Last week Tinokunda graduated with a 1st class Bachelor of Commerce in Risk Management and Insurance degree.
These are some of the beautiful stories that happen on this platform. People of good heart doing good to other humans make this world a better place.
Again thanks to all who helped this young man. May the future open more doors for him.... and if you are close to any door, open it for him and others.

Iโm glad you brought this up so eloquently,Iโve been saying this for years but because Iโm a small account very few people paid attention.๐ซ๐ซ
Your point resonates deeply with my own journey through the vocational education system Having navigated the practical, hands-on training as an electrician at Circle Cement Ltd,then Salisbury Portland Cement, (1982-1986) and attending the then brand new Kwe Kwe Technical College for the theoretical backup ,I've witnessed firsthand the tangible benefits of a skills-based education.
The emphasis on polytechnics and vocational training centers isn't just about equipping individuals with marketable skills; it's about fostering a workforce that can drive economic development through practical know-how and innovation.
Before independence, this approach placed us at a competitive advantage, showcasing the potential of a nation skilled in trades that are the backbone of any thriving economy.
By channeling more resources and young talent into these vocational paths, we could indeed leapfrog many of our continental peers. Not only would this strategy address the immediate needs of our job market, but it would also cultivate a culture of craftsmanship and technical excellence.
This, in turn, could lead to sustainable growth, reducing the dependency on degrees that often do not align with the immediate or long-term economic needs of our society.
It's crucial, however, to ensure that these vocational routes are not seen as lesser alternatives but as equally prestigious pathways to success. By integrating advanced technology and modern methodologies into these programs, we can prepare a generation that is not only skilled but also adaptable to future technological advancements.
In essence, prioritizing vocational education could be our strategic move towards reclaiming and surpassing our historical lead in skilled labour and industrial prowess across Africa.@mhtestd
