As the curtains closed on the 11th Our Ocean Conference in Mombasa, Kenya used the closing ceremony to call for a shift from pledges to implementation, investment, and measurable impact.
Speaking during the ceremony, @PS_Betsy_Njagi said Kenyaโs hosting of the conference had demonstrated that ocean protection and economic development are not competing priorities.
The PS pointed to the introduction of the first-ever Business and Investment Forum in the conferenceโs history as part of efforts to connect global commitments with private capital, innovation, and enterprise.
She also highlighted the participation of more than 150 young leaders, alongside scientists, researchers, and innovators, describing their contribution as key to shaping the future of ocean action.
โKenya has shown that the blue economy is not merely a conservation agenda. It is an economic agenda, a jobs agenda, and a future generation agenda,โ she said.
