@asshaii I am not saying if it was or wasn’t an inspiration (because I haven’t seen what GRRM thinks of the books) I am just pointing out that different genres or archetypes might still influence each other (also depending on the author)~

@asshaii Just adding to this, because books can still be inspired by each other although different: GRRM says in his interviews that sci-fi and fantasy did not feel like two separate genres to him, he also states that he met with Frank Herbert and talked books with him~

@uskglasses The whole book reads like the postcolonial theory / criticism in literature… If she wanted to write with a post-colonialistic voice, she shouldn’t have written about victorian-England (in my opinion) but point at how it’s still affecting the world today (post*)

@ofthevolsci @uskglasses I consider myself a literary critic (that’s what I am studying and aiming to be at least) so therefore I try to read anything: from acotar to rote, and even contemporary novels from all time periods! You might be suprised in what you suddenly can fall in love with👀

As a major within language and literature I think it’s sad (sad is a mild word choice for me in this instance) to edit a book’s language just because it’s «outdated»… Le Guin’s books is not even old or wierd language wise compared to other stuff I’ve read!😭

Having a discussion about the use of ai is so braindead like wdym «this is a good source»? Do you not watch scholars on youtube, listen to scholars and academics on podcasts, read articles on google scholar or find books online / library?

A kind reminder that we shouldn’t compare success or life experiences. Everyone lives differently. Some might have disabilities, health issues, insecurities, anxieties and so on, that makes creating more difficult. Despite this they still create and follow their passion.
