Leh provides for an equal amount of excitement for the Pilots as well.

Every time.

While coming in from Delhi, we over fly Tso Kar and then the village of Upshi.

If holding over Tso Kar, keep an eye out for Tso Moriri and well as Pangong Tso.

Crossing the village of Upshi and getting into the Indus valley, we descend down to circuit altitude.

Note, descent after Tso Kar is only done if visual with the terrain.

We over fly north of the airfield, cross the first ridge and commence a gentle descent, crossing the 2nd ridge we turn downwind and really crank up the descent.

Those “blue sheds” play a “pivotal” role.

Crossing those we turn base and aim for a school building.

Once the runway is in sight, we turn final and offer a silent prayer to Khardung La.

We mostly pray for no exceedances during the approach.

Meanwhile, there is a 15 knot tail wind chasing your tail.

You hope she touched down in the TDZ.

If she didn’t, at-least you didn’t break anything.
