slowly nodding his head, parker folded his arms over his chest. “it sounds like time is just needed. maybe she’ll be more excited about it once she’s worked out whatever she’s dealing with?”
“thank you.” parker nodded, letting out a quiet sigh of relief before following maddie. “how’s work been today?” he asked, trying to distract from the fact that he was even there.
“uh, let me check.” he said, quickly pulling out his phone to check the information he’d been given. “dr. ndugu, apparently. this place is like a maze though, i keep following signs and then they don’t lead to where they should.”
taking the rope, parker nodded his head and copied what she did, putting the rope behind his back. “you can’t laugh at me if i fall over it, okay? i’m trying my best!”
jumping slightly at the hand on his arm, but immediately relaxing when he realised who it was. “oh— nothing. i just got lost trying to find someone. that’s all.”
“crazy idea… ask her?” parker said with an eyebrow raised, lifting his shoulders in a shrug and leaning back in his seat again. “boys are not at all confusing or complicated, by the way. girls can read us like a book. at least maddie can with me.”
“but what if she has moved on? she already said she has a job lined up here, so what if she has some kind of partner here?”
she rambled as she looked at parker with a raised eyebrow before frowning. “shut the hell up, parker. boys are just as confusing!”
