at first, it made his dating life feel like a collection of trophies. but maybe the photos are also proof: “i was wanted. someone chose me. i wasn’t alone.”

dean doesn’t just need company. he needs witnesses to his existence. and maybe that’s why being with moth alone isn’t enough to fill that loneliness yet. what dean actually needs might not be more people, but genuine intimacy.

moth deals with vulnerability in the complete opposite way.

his ridiculous rules are designed to fail.

if nobody can realistically meet his standards, nobody gets close enough to truly hurt him. they fail, moth walks away, and everything happens exactly as he expected.

because predictable pain is safer than uncertain vulnerability.

that’s why moth apologising to dean matters. it means admitting that maybe he judged dean wrongly and accepting that he can’t completely control where this goes.

and that’s exactly why they clash.

dean reaches outward when he’s afraid. moth retreats.

dean is essentially saying, “please don’t leave me alone.”

moth is saying, “you can’t hurt me if i never let you close enough.”

the turning point comes when they finally stop expecting each other to guess and actually communicate. neither of their fears disappears, but for once, they’re responding to each other instead of their assumptions of each other.

and suddenly, there’s somewhere for this relationship to go.

Being a fan SHOULD NOT feel like a job.

Yes, of course, do what you can, but it’s the way some people demand engagement otherwise “you aren’t a real fan” or “you aren’t doing enough” that can be really exhausting.

My love for an artist should solely be based on my love for them, not how much I can promote them.

And this is coming from someone who IS regularly online to post and engage with as much as I can. But I have that free time and I do this willingly. I’d never shame people who can’t do that (or even those who simply don’t want to).

Let’s try to keep everything positive and light. I’d hate for people to feel exhausted or tired from being a fan.
