*Postponement of Rehabilitation Works on Lekki–Ajah Corridor*

The Lagos State Government wishes to inform the public that the planned rehabilitation works on the Lekki–Ajah corridor, earlier scheduled to commence on Saturday, 15th November 2025, have been postponed to a later date.

A new commencement date will be communicated in due course. *While preliminary activities will continue till end of the month, full rehabilitation works will not begin until the revised schedule is announced.*

The State Government appreciates the understanding and patience of all road users as it remains committed to improving road infrastructure and ensuring safer, more efficient transportation for all.

LASG ISSUES TRAFFIC ADVISORY AHEAD OF NOVEMBER 2 CYCLING RACE
The Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC) in partnership with Cycology Cycling Club will host the Cycology X Itel Tour de Nigeria Cycling Race on Sunday, November 2, 2025, from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
The 60km race will start at Dolphin Loop, go through Osborne Road, Ring Road, Third Mainland Bridge, Iyana Oworo, Gbagada Expressway, Oshodi Oke, and MMIA Underbridge (U-turn), before returning to Dolphin Estate as the finishing point.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTES
1. Motorists from Ikeja and nearby areas going to Victoria Island will make use of Ikorodu Road to Funsho Williams Avenue to link Eko Bridge and connect Outer Marina to continue their journeys.
2.  Motorists from Lagos–Ibadan Expressway (Mowe and environs) will pass through Ojota Slip Road to Ikorodu Road to link Funsho Williams Avenue and connect Eko Bridge to continue their journeys.
3.  Third Mainland Bridge will be open to motorists from Mainland to Island and back from Island to Mainland, with movement managed to allow race flow.
NOTE: All side roads along the route will be opened intermittently as the race moves forward.

TRAFFIC INFORMATION
i. Some roads, junctions, and intersections along the race route will be partially closed to traffic during the event.
ii.  Police and LASTMA Officers will be on duty to guide motorists and ensure safety.
iii. No road will be completely closed. Vehicles will be allowed to pass at intervals as the race progresses.
ADVICE TO MOTORISTS
Motorists are advised to plan their trips early, use alternative routes, and be patient during the race period. The temporary diversions are to ensure a safe and successful cycling event.

Today, I was deeply honoured to receive the Social Impact Award from the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO) as part of the celebration of COWLSO’s 25th Anniversary Conference in recognition of the work we are doing at the Lagos Water Corporation.

This award is not just a personal honour; it is a reflection of the collective effort of an incredible team that continues to ensure safe, sustainable, and inclusive access to water for every Lagosian.

It was also a privilege to collaborate with COWLSO on the rehabilitation of the Tajudeen Olusi Rehabilitation Centre for Girls, Ajah, where we installed a water treatment plant and storage system. That project remains a strong reminder of how access to clean water can directly advance girls’ empowerment and dignity.

I am profoundly grateful to Her Excellency, the First Lady of Lagos State and Chairperson of COWLSO, for this recognition and for her continued leadership in driving social impact, and to Mr. Governor, whose vision for a Greater Lagos continues to inspire our work.

LASG ANNOUNCES CLOSURE OF MARINE BRIDGE FOR MAINTENANCE WORK BY THE FEDERAL MINISTRY OF WORKS
The Lagos State Government wishes to inform the general public that the Marine Bridge in Ijora, ApapaLocal Government Area, will be closed for 15 days to allow for essential maintenance works. The project will be carried out in two phases as outlined below:
Phase I
• Duration: Saturday, 11th October, to Saturday, 18thOctober, 2025.
• Work Area: From the foot of Marine Bridge (LawaniOguntayo Road by UBA, inbound Apapa/Costain).
• Traffic Diversion: Motorists from Ijora Olopa heading to Apapa will be diverted to the Ijora Causeway Access Ramp by Omni Retail Company to connect Ijora 7up, will then turn left to Lilypond Access Ramp and continue their journeys.
Phase II
• Duration: Sunday, 19th October, to Saturday, 25thOctober, 2025.
• Work Area: Between Ijora Badia and Lilypond Access Ramp (inbound Apapa).
• Traffic Diversion: Motorists from Ijora Olopa heading to Apapa and Costain will be diverted 50 meters before the work zone into a contraflow with Costain-bound traffic and will rejoin the carriageway after 500 meters.
During this period, motorists from Apapa heading to Costain/Lagos Island/Ijora Olopa will have through traffic, but on approaching the work zone on Marine Bridge, they will be diverted to form a contraflow with Costain-bound traffic for approximately 500m and will regain full access to the carriageway after the work area to continue their journeys.
ADVISORY: Motorists are advised to be patient, as the closure is part of the traffic management plan for maintenance works on the underlying bearings of some sections of the Marine Bridge by the Federal Ministry of Works (Office of the Federal Controller, Lagos).

LASG ISSUES TRAFFIC ADVISORY FOR REPAIR OF ADENIJI ADELE INTERCHANGE JUNCTION TO CMS
The Lagos State Government has issued a traffic advisory ahead of the repair works on the Adeniji Adele Interchange Junction to CMS.
The repair will take place between 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. daily, commencing on Sunday, 12th October, and ending on Sunday, 23rd November, 2025 — a duration of six weeks.
To minimize traffic disruptions, only one lane will be closed at a time, while the remaining lanes will be open to motorists.
The Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, assured that traffic management personnel will be deployed to the affected area to reduce inconvenience and manage vehicular movement during the repair works.
He urged motorists to comply with the directives of traffic officers on the ground to ensure smooth traffic flow.
ADVISORY:
Motorists are implored to be patient, as the lane diversion is part of the traffic management plan for the rehabilitation of the road by the Federal Ministry of Works.

Today, on Nigeria’s Independence Day, I had the honor of unveiling the Mukhtaar Tijani Scholarship Programme, an initiative of the Mukhtaar Tijani Foundation.

50 outstanding students from public secondary schools on Lagos Island have been named MTT Scholars for the new academic year. Each scholar will receive a token stipend, alongside school uniforms, notebooks, textbooks, and other essential learning materials to support their journey.

This programme is more than financial support it is an investment in dreams and a commitment to building the next generation of leaders. With every scholar, we reaffirm that the future of our nation rests on the education of its children.

OGUDU BRIDGE REOPENS

Repair works on the Oworonshoki Inbound section of the Ogudu/Ifako Bridge has been completed.

The section has now been reopened for general use, and motorists can use the road again without restriction.

We appreciate the patience and cooperation of Lagosians during the repair period.
