DPS offers its heartfelt sympathies to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office after the tragic loss of Deputy Erika Serrato in the line of duty.
We stand with Deputy Serrato’s family, friends, and our brothers and sisters at MCSO during this difficult time.
#NeverForgotten
Today, we will honor the life and legacy of Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Trooper Sergio Romero in Childress.
Though his time with us was far too short, Trooper Romero’s dedication to serving others and protecting his fellow Texans will never be forgotten. Please continue to keep his family, friends and colleagues and in your thoughts as they navigate this tremendous loss.
We are about to begin the process of replacing the track here at Cowboy Memorial Stadium. The company should arrive in Edna any day now. We will have to close down the stadium to the public while the construction is going on. Thank you for your understanding & cooperation.
Sean McVay nailed the job description.
Be an elevator.
Lift people to their highest potential.
That's it.
That's leadership.
Not a critic. Not a ceiling. An elevator. 🔥
This morning, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) honored the lives and legacies of DPS officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty at this year’s annual Peace Officers Memorial Service in Austin. We were honored to welcome Texas Speaker of the House Dustin Burrows as our guest for today’s service, joining us as we reminded families of the fallen that their loved ones’ stories will never be forgotten.
Families of fallen officers, including those of Trooper Jerry Wayne Adamick Jr. and Trooper Daniel Robert Shown, also joined us for a special wreath-laying ceremony during today's service. Trooper Adamick and Trooper Shown lost their lives in service to their fellow Texans in September 2025 and February 2026, respectively.
