⛏ One month ago I sent 13 ASIC miners down to @bmm_hosting in Arkansas, and it's time for an update on how it's gone!
Before shipping, I cleaned and tested every unit and preconfigured the pool and miner info ahead of time so onboarding would be as smooth as possible for @Ben_BMM_CEO and his team. Shipping ran roughly $40 per miner via UPS Ground from Pennsylvania to Arkansas. I actually considered driving them down myself, but once I priced out gas, hotels, and food, shipping was clearly the cheaper route.
Here's what I sent down:
✅ 1 x Canaan Avalon 1346
✅ 1 x Canaan Avalon 1566
✅ 2 x Bitmain Antminer S19J Pro
✅ 1 x WhatsMiner M60
✅ 2 x Bitmain Antminer S19K Pros
✅ 6 x Bitmain Antminer L7s
🚚Shipping took about a week, and once they arrived, the team had every unit unboxed, documented, racked, and powered on within 24 hours!
It's been great working with a small, personal team like Ben and Davis, easy to communicate with, responsive, and true crypto miners themselves, not just hosting operators.
⭐I requested @Vnishfirmware a third-party ASIC firmware, on all my units, and they had it installed quickly. My goal with these older ASICs is to squeeze as much life and profit out of them as possible, and VNISH's automated downclocking gives much better uptime than stock Bitmain firmware when things heat up.

🔥And let me tell you, Arkansas gets hotter than Pennsylvania. They've been in a brutal heat spell the last several weeks, and the miners have been feeling it. But instead of overheating and shutting down, VNISH has been saving the day, downclocking the units to safe temps and keeping them hashing at a lower rate. Huge win, and a big thank you to Bear Market Mining for putting that in place and supporting it!
All around, I'd highly recommend Bear Market Mining if you've got old ASIC miners that aren't profitable at traditional hosting rates. Their profit share model helps get a little more life and value out of these units before you sell them dirt cheap on eBay or scrap them outright.

If you look at historical hashprice, when Bitcoin was $126,000, miners were earning roughly 4 cents per TH.
Today, with Bitcoin around $79,000, miners are earning roughly the same 4 cents per TH.
Think about that. Miner profitability today is roughly the same as it was with Bitcoin at $126,000.
What changed?
Difficulty dropped.
But there’s one massive difference: the upside.
At $126,000, the odds of Bitcoin doubling from there were possible, but the bar was much higher.
At $79,000, a 2–3x move on the Bitcoin you mine and hold is far more realistic.
Today is the time to mine and hold.

The 5th Edition of The Hobbyist's Inner Circle Free Newsletter is Out!
Bitcoin's climbing back toward $80K, and this month's Hobbyist's Inner Circle breaks down solo mining's two paths: buy your own home miner for full control, or rent hashrate through platforms like @LuqEEMiner for low cost, no hassle exposure. Plus, a candid look at dealing with old "Shelf Gnome" ASICs, including a profit share hosting option with @bmm_hosting for units that are past their prime but not quite scrap.
Also covered, why ASIC miner manufacturers have gone quiet (Canaan, Elphapex, IceRiver, GoldShell all lagging), and why that silence is actually bullish for hobbyists eyeing the used ASIC market right now.

I just walked my mining shed and garage and pulled out a pile of units that have basically become "Shelf Gnomes" collecting dust. Machines that used to print money and now can't even cover electric at my rate.
A few Bitmain Antminer S19K Pros, L7's, S19 XPs, M30S and a few others.
I should've sold most of these at the peak. That's the #1 lesson in this game, hardware arbitrage. Sell when a miner's still hot, not after it's already bled out. I didn't do that here, and now I'm holding units that are basically unsellable. We're talking $50-150 on eBay for machines I paid thousands for. Barely worth the shipping label.
So what's the move? Powering them off and letting them collect dust on a shelf gets you $0. Selling them for pennies on the dollar isn't much better. Letting them become "Shelf Gnomes" and hope the market flips in some insane way, like the Z15 Pro is a unicorn and pipe dream.
That's why I'm sending these to @bmm_hosting instead.
@Benjami55453544 (a guy I know well from my trips to Arkansas, been to his facility multiple times) built this new hosting company specifically for situations like mine, with old traditionally unprofitable ASIC Miners as his client tell. But How?
Bear Market Mining runs on a profit-share model. They cover the electric cost out of what the miner actually earns, then split whatever's left with you. That's how they can effectively offer rates as low as 0.058/kWh because they're not charging you regardless of output, they're only taking a cut of real profit.
Is it going to make you rich? No. But it's the difference between:
❌ $0 sitting on a shelf
❌ A lowball eBay sale for scrap value
✅ Actually earning something on hardware you already paid for
This is a real way to squeeze value out of them instead of letting them rot and a good place to "live out their remaining life". lol

Shout out to Ben for putting this together for miners like us who got caught holding units in the down market.
Don't make my mistake, sell at the peak when you can. But if you already missed that window like I did, don't just let your hardware sit on a shelf. Put it to work!
I've got 15 ASIC miners that are no longer profitable to run sitting next to me right now, pulled back from hosting companies I still work with. And I had to make a real decision on what to do with them. I think every fellow ASIC miner runs into this at one point or another.
Here's the thing about mining through a market like this: you end up holding old hardware and only really have 3 options.
1️⃣ Shelf them and hope the market turns hard enough one day to make powering them back on worth it.
2️⃣ Sell them on eBay for pennies on the dollar and just be done with it.
3️⃣ Find them a real home where they can still earn something. This is the hardest one!
I've done #1 and #2 plenty of times. This time I'm trying something different: sending a batch of them, L7s, S19J Pros, some Avalons, and S19K Pros to Bear Market Mining @bmm_hosting
Here's how it works with Bear Market Mining:
It's a profit share hosting model, not a flat rate deal. They take the electric cost straight out of what the miner earns, and whatever's left over gets split 50/50 with you. Their effective rate works out to $0.058/kWh, which is way below what most traditional hosting companies charge. They are fully transparent and offer you full reporting with all the details.
Is there going to be a ton of profit left after the split? Probably not much. But compare that to a miner sitting powered off on a shelf collecting dust, or getting sold for $50-150 on the secondary market, this is a way better outcome for end-of-life hardware.
Lesson learned on my end too: hardware arbitrage is real. Sell your miners when they're at peak value, not after they've already bled out. I sat on too many of these too long, and that's on me. If you buy a Z15 Pro today and it's worth $14k in 3 months, sell it. Don't get attached!
But for those of you sitting on old units that aren't worth running or selling for scrap, check out @bmm_hosting . Run by @Benjami55453544 , a guy I trust and have visited in person multiple times down in Arkansas.
