A few 🏀🤓📝 from @usabjnt U17 trials session 2.
The biggest adjustment has been to the :24 shot clock, often times the offense hasn’t been initiated until :12 or after because of the ball pressure. Urgency to initiate from the guards must pick up as the trials go on.
The counter to that is the defensive pressure of the guards has been excellent, particularly 2027 Jazman Bailey.
Functional game shooting (a term I stole from my man @ShaneLaflin) has been lacking as well due to the speed of the game. Also must consider lung capacity/legs due to playing at elevation - it’s a real thing.
You can see the physical growth of many from last years 16s trials - a bunch of these players are in the weight room!!!
2028 Meg Moore put on a clinic in the 3-point shooting drill - immaculate form.
2027 Micah Ojo may very well be the most complete player here thus far, no holes in her game.
Really impressed with footwork and soft touch of 2027 Saniyah Murray, continues to improve.
2028 Giovanni Burress had some really nice finds off the bounce, a great compliment to her normal scoring prowess.
2028 Easton McCollough is really poised with the ball - took care of it while making plays for others , a great compliment to her normal prolific shooting.
Business will continue to pick up tomorow as cuts are looming.
