My book, "Dragon on Centre Street," is out this week! I still can’t quite believe it.
The book focuses on Donald Trump’s sole criminal trial but it’s about more than that: it’s about the way that our institutions have failed to keep up with the 21st century, the way that qualities like self-promotion (lol), shamelessness and combativeness *work* in our world.
It’s about New York City and the way in which New Yorkers’ lives collide with enormous historical events, after which they head to Wegmans to stock up on Diet Coke. It’s about the famous, the non-famous and the infamous.
I wrote this book for people like the person I was before I started covering courts for the New York Times Metro section. People who follow the news but long ago gave up on learning every detail about the ever-multiplying investigations into Trump. My hope is that it provides a coherent picture in an age of incoherence.
It’s now available *wherever books are sold* and I hope you’ll buy it and read it!
The Sopranos, Lost, Mad Men, Riverdale—so many shows I love were influenced by David Lynch.
“It was a miracle,” David Chase said of watching Twin Peaks when it aired. “Like, wow, that sort of changes television.” by @johnjurg

Evan Gershkovich, the Wall Street Journal reporter falsely accused by Russian authorities of spying, was sentenced today to 16 years in a high-security penal colony, after being wrongfully convicted in a hurried, secret trial. This is an outrage.

I’m writing a book about the Trump trial! I’m so excited about it — the trial was the most intense, bizarre and important thing I’ve ever covered. I’m hoping I can bring it to life and convince people who didn’t really pay attention to the trial that it mattered and still does
Evan is innocent. Evan is a staff reporter of The Wall Street Journal and as we watch these baseless proceedings play out, we must not let anyone, or any government, suggest otherwise. It is well past time for Evan to come home. #IStandWithEvan#JournalismIsNotACrime
My friend and colleague Evan Gershkovich is scheduled to stand trial in a few hours, behind closed doors in a Russian court, on false charges of espionage. "To even call it a trial, however, is unfair to Evan," our editor in chief writes.

Breaking: Russian prosecutors approved an indictment of WSJ reporter Evan Gershkovich, falsely accusing him of espionage and referring his case to a trial court https://t.co/fmij5Otd34 https://t.co/fmij5Otd34
It’s been exactly 14 months. That’s 14 months of Evan not seeing his family and friends. It’s 14 months of him not bearing witness through his incredible journalism. It’s 14 months of his life in a tiny Moscow prison cell. It’s an absolute outrage. #IStandWithEvan
