Math started BEFORE THE BELL! On morning supervision I had some students asking some awesome questions. Frost + pebbles work really well as a makeshift whiteboard and manipulatives ;)
Grade 2 is hard for friendships. Frenemies are everywhere! After I talk through a disagreement with students, I make them do something together. Their challenge was to make up a secret handshake 🤝 just like that we have BFFs again ♥️
STEAM CHALLENGE. Jack needs a parachute to slow him down from his air drop (he’s visiting from the North Pole). We have built our parachutes, but before we test we need to define what success looks like. Would you agree with these points?
During STEAM today we had an opportunity to work with Ozobots. Seriously! These kids were so intuitive when it came to coding their movement. I can’t wait to use this as an extension activity for subjects ❤️
Rm. 4 motivation: getting to have Puppy sit with you through a lesson. This lucky student had puppy for a lesson and I forgot to get him before the assembly. She was clearly making sure he also participated 🥰😂
I take photos and forget to post them! Earlier this week we were working on designing bird houses with labels. Part of learning the the tools in expository texts (labels) to create a more comprehensive piece.
Non-standard measurement was the BEST part of math for a lot of kids today. Ask them to measure you with their (often stinky) shoes and they are HOOKED.
I LOVE working on story beginnings with kids. We combined math with this and gathered data on students favourite approach📊. I love these beginnings students came up with ❤️🧠
These students are SO passionate about our earth. One of them has spent every recess WANTING to pick up yard waste. Next step is sorting! These ladies are making a difference in our community ♥️
