Thrilled to see my new paper w.@WojciechRoszka published in "Journal of Informetrics" today:
‼️"Top research #performance in Poland over three decades: A multidimensional micro-data approach" ‼️
https://t.co/83ixkqMB63
N=150,000 scientists
N=600,000 publications
Three decades (1992-2021).
The 10/50 rule in productivity distribution!
‼️Highlights:
✅In this #longitudinal study, scientists comprising the classes of top performers (upper 1%, 5%, and 10%) are tracked over time.
✅The role of #top #performers emerges as fundamental today as it was 10, 20, and 30 years ago.
✅A surprising #temporal #stability of productivity patterns is found: The 1/10 and 10/50 rules apply across the three decades.
✅ 10% of scientists is always responsible for 50% of publications, with some disciplinary variation!
✅Women are underrepresented in all top performers classes; men are overrepresented.
✅Econometric models identify major predictors of top performance: gender (male), academic age, and research collaboration.
Enjoy, Open Access!
