Fagan J has eviscerated the case that has been mounted not only against the defendant but against Australian society. One of the brilliant things he points out (and there are many believe me) is not just the false basis of accusations of antisemitism (antipathy of Jews because they are Jews) against people criticising Israel, but that this fraud is repeated at every turn by people in positions of power. This happened to the defendant. But it’s happening at a society wide level too leading to a structural society-wide repression. I was starting to wonder whether anyone who can make a difference will articulate this, and he has - the repetition of something false that inevitably leads to a miscarriage of justice.
It really has felt like they all have caught some strange virus and it attacked the part of the brain that enables them to use common sense. Or there was a group discount on lobotomies going. I hope this is a big wake up call. Oh one final thing I cant resist sharing - he raises all the obvious questions about the IHRA others are too terrified to ask like what the hell does ‘a certain perception’ mean??
