@MTN@samgeorgegh@peacefmonline If the recipient acknowledged receiving money they were not expecting, surely there should be a process to facilitate its return.I’m interested in hearing your thoughts. Shouldn’t there be a better system in place to protect customers who make genuine errors?
My brother accidentally entered an incorrect MTN MoMo number by missing one digit, and his GH₵800 was transferred to someone else.
When he reported the issue to MTN in Takoradi, he was told there was nothing they could do. I advised him to report it to the police..@MTNGhana
…but the officers said they receive many similar complaints. What is happening in Ghana? @MTN has the details of all its customers, yet when money is mistakenly sent to the wrong recipient, customers appear to have little or no protection. Is this really acceptable? @samgeorgegh
@MTN@samgeorgegh@Citi973@Joy997FM One question I have is: Could MTN not have contacted the recipient to verify the transaction? A simple phone call could have helped establish that this was a genuine mistake and not a scam. @Manasseh_Azure
@MTN@samgeorgegh@MTNGhana I will share the recipient’s details later, but first I want to hear from the public to see whether others have experienced similar situations.
@MTN@samgeorgegh Today it’s GH₵800. Tomorrow it could be GH₵10,000 or even more. Losing money because of a simple typing mistake, without any meaningful avenue for recovery, should not be the norm. I did my own digging and have the pictures of the lady.@MTNGhana
@MTN@samgeorgegh@samgeorgegh are you aware of how frequently these cases occur? Are there adequate regulations in place to protect consumers in situations like this?
If anyone else has experienced a similar issue, I would like to hear from you. @Channel1TVGHA@tv3_ghana@Metro_GEG

“Mr. President, spend your political capital. It is not meant to be preserved—it is meant to be spent on difficult reforms, unpopular decisions, and standards that come at a cost to enforce.”
— A concerned Ghanaian citizen has issued a heartfelt appeal to President John Dramani Mahama, urging him to use his political capital to make the tough and often unpopular decisions needed to address the country’s longstanding challenges.
In her message, she reminded the President of the confidence many Ghanaians have placed in his leadership, describing him as someone who understands the root causes of the nation’s problems and has a unique opportunity to pursue meaningful reforms without fear of political consequences.
