@AMinerDetail And that’s the problem. The title of your page is “Maryland Politics & News” but scrolling through your page it reads like an extension of the Wes Moore campaign not news. So which is it?
@AMinerDetail Literally this thread. He asked if you were a reporter or a partisan mouthpiece based off of the post you retweeted. You presented no additional news in that retweet just some comment about the 55+ community. Then you respond with the “news you don’t like” tweet.
@Zipseatthetrack 3 weeks made sense but also makes it hard when it’ll be over MDW for the next 4 out of 5 years. And not sure moving the race to Sunday where there’s a lot more viewer competition with NHL, NBA, PGA, Indy 500, etc., will net the 40% boost they’re claiming.
@john88635@barshoelife Assuming they keep the 3 week gap, it will be on MDW from 2028-2031 since the Derby date moves. Just happens to not be because there are 5 Saturday’s in May 2027.
@TKKuegler@barshoelife 3 weeks is understandable. But you’ve created other problems now. 2028-2031 races will be Memorial Day Sunday which isn’t ideal. Also competing with Indy 500, Coke 600, NBA/NHL playoffs, PGA championship, etc. 40% estimated increase seems pretty aggressive.
@bigskubgma17636 @raypaulick In the last 10 years, it’s only 5 out of 10 horses so this is a decade long trend of discounting the Preakness and the long shot of winning the TC. Derby winking horses already command a high stud fee and the juice isn’t worth the squeeze to win the TC.
@bigskubgma17636 @petedenk Only 5 winners ran the Preakness in the last 10 years. Since 2021, only 2 out of 6 winners ran in the Preakness. Owners are already discounting whether or not winning the TC is worth the risk and most already saying “it isn’t.”
@ejfitz24@petedenk ☝🏻this. Only 5 horses ran Preakness after winning the derby in the last 10 years. From 2021-26, only 2 out of 6 winners ran. The upside for winning the TC is low since the stud fee for a derby winner is still huge. Another series makes the $2M purse less relevant too.
@GlennClarkRadio@ChrisDachille Over the last decade, 5 out of 10 horses that won the Derby ran in the Preakness. From 2021-2026, 2 out of 6 ran. Most are skipping the preakness to give extra rest. Winning the derby is worth millions and the TC upside isn’t worth the risk. The TC is not the carrot it once was.
@AMinerDetail You leave out the biggest part of the story: policy and market forces made coal increasingly uncompetitive. The PURPA buyout didn’t cause coal’s decline—it simply formalized a decision that had become economically favorable. And this was Maryland’s policy design all along.
@kimKBaltimore@MDFreedomCaucus What’s the point of voting when we have the same recycled candidates that we didn’t want the first time around? Like, we gotta deal with Dan fucking Cox again?
@AdamDubitsky@capitalweather Tonight was effing wild. The only lighting storm I ever remember closely resembling tonight was on Lake Michigan. And ive never seen a sky like that either.
@CarterElliottIV Thats ok - you can celebrate this one. Because eventually your boy’s gonna have to show up at a debate and explain his military record, his PJM/BGE collusion, his massive tax and fee increases, the lack of progress on the key bridge, the outmigration from the state, and so on.
@CarterElliottIV You keep trying to feed me shit and tell me it’s chocolate ice cream. I can tell the difference. All he has done is use maryland as a stepping stone to higher office and preside over the largest tax/fee increases in state history. That’s not a winning record, pal.
