I was pleased to join Minister @Sflecce for the announcement of the proposed Northern Shield Energy Corridor today. This ambitious project would connect Alberta's oil sands to Sarnia-Lambton, reinforcing our community's position as one of Canada's most important energy hubs.
Our pets are family, and they deserve the best care. 🐾
Great to stop by Nuleaf Veterinary Group in #Barrie and learn more about how their new clinic is supporting the health & well-being of pets across our community with their in-person care and virtual support services.
Our government has opened the Kingston HART Hub, replacing the last provincially funded drug injection site.
With all 29 HART Hubs now open, we are helping people rebuild their lives, while protecting communities from the impacts of illegal drug use.

What household item from the '60s did families keep repairing instead of replacing
I remember an old vacuum cleaner in our house being repaired again and again
It’s great to see investment turn into events people can enjoy together, and I got a chance to see that with an early look at Acorn Fest! 🌰🍂
Congratulations to the @OakvilleDwntown BIA on receiving an Experience Ontario grant to support Acorn Fest.
This Friday and Saturday, Towne Square will come alive with music, food, activities and more, while giving people another reason to support our local small businesses.
Check it out October 2 & 3!
Bob Denver Refused to Let the Professor and Mary Ann Be “The Rest”
If you watched the first season of Gilligan’s Island, you may remember something odd about the theme song.
After naming Gilligan, the Skipper, the millionaire and his wife, and the movie star, it ended the roll call with:
“And the rest.”
“The rest” were Russell Johnson and Dawn Wells — the Professor and Mary Ann.
There was a reason. Tina Louise, who played Ginger, had a contractual billing arrangement that put her at the end of the opening credits. Johnson and Wells had signed later and wound up in the closing credits instead. So when the theme song was written, their characters were simply bundled together as “the rest.”
But before Season 2, Bob Denver decided that wasn't right.
He asked that Johnson and Wells be included with everyone else. When the studio pushed back, Denver had some leverage of his own: his contract allowed him to choose where his name appeared in the credits.
So Gilligan made them an offer.
If the Professor and Mary Ann had to stay at the end, put him there with them.
Moving the star of Gilligan’s Island out of the opening wasn't exactly an attractive option.
The studio relented.
For Season 2, the theme was re-recorded, “and the rest” disappeared, and two familiar names finally joined the roll call:
“The Professor and Mary Ann.”
Years later, Dawn Wells said she hadn't even known the full story at the time. She remembered Denver as the one who went to bat for them.
Bob Denver didn't make a big production out of it.
He just refused to let two of his fellow castaways be treated like “the rest.” ❤️
A father was pinned underneath his pickup truck after it slipped off the jack inside his garage, spilling gasoline and setting the truck on fire.
He had already been trapped there for several minutes when his 19-year-old daughter, Charlotte Heffelmire, ran in and saw the flames spreading around him.
Charlotte did something that sounds almost impossible. She got underneath the truck, lifted it enough to free her dad, then pulled him away from the flames.
The burning truck was still inside the garage, so Charlotte climbed into it and drove it out on three wheels before the fire could spread farther into the house.
Then she got the rest of her family out, including her baby niece, called 911 and even tried using a garden hose to slow the flames.
Her dad survived, and the rest of the family made it out safely too.
Charlotte was only 19. She lifted a burning truck off her dad, drove it out of the garage and helped get her whole family to safety.
That’s the kind of young hero people should know about.

OCTOBER 2, 1944 — THE BATTLE OF THE SCHELDT
On this day in 1944, Canadian soldiers began one of the most difficult and costly campaigns of the Second World War.
The Allies had captured the great Belgian port of Antwerp a month earlier — but there was a problem. German forces still controlled the Scheldt estuary, the long waterway connecting Antwerp to the North Sea.
Until the Scheldt was cleared, the enormous port was virtually useless to the advancing Allied armies.
On October 2, the 2nd Canadian Infantry Division began pushing north from Antwerp toward South Beveland, while Canadian forces prepared to fight their way through a landscape seemingly designed to favour the defenders.
Much of the country was flat and flooded. Soldiers advanced across exposed ground through mud and water, under fire from well-entrenched German positions. Mines, booby traps, driving rain and flooded fields made every kilometre costly.
The battle would rage for more than five weeks through the Breskens Pocket, South Beveland and Walcheren Island.
When organized German resistance finally ended on November 8, the First Canadian Army had taken more than 41,000 prisoners and opened the approaches to Antwerp.
The victory came at a terrible price.
The First Canadian Army suffered 12,873 killed, wounded or missing — including 6,367 Canadians.
On November 28, the first Allied convoy finally sailed into Antwerp, opening the supply route that would help carry the Allied armies through the final months of the war in Europe.
Today, we remember the Canadians who fought through the mud, water and gunfire of the Scheldt.
Lest we forget. 🇨🇦

Construction has already begun just days after Ontario announced support for the Marathon mine, along with a mill, and processing complex.
A full end-to-end supply chain taking hold in Ontario as we counter China’s critical mineral dominance, including nearly 60% of copper smelting, along with 40% of the world’s palladium production controlled by Russia.
Ontario is building mines faster, creating 1,000 jobs and securing our economic sovereignty.

To make life more affordable, the fuel tax has been suspended across Alberta— saving you 13 cents per Litre when filing up.
Good retailers, like this Co-Op in Stony Plain, have passed these savings directly to consumers. Well done!
If you are aware of a retailer not passing savings onto consumers, you can submit a complaint on our Consumer Protection portal here: https://t.co/nS8qHQCj4n
The talent of Ontario’s world-class skilled trades workers was on full display today. 🔨
Premier @fordnation, my colleagues and I toured the Carpenters’ National Apprenticeship Competition in Concord, where talented apprentices from across the country put their skills to the test.
Thank you to the @ubcja_crc for hosting us, and congratulations to every apprentice competing!
For 60 years, the Ciccolini family has built Masters Insurance based on steadfast principles that define their success.
Relationships that transcend generations. Ours started in 1968, when my grandfather, Vincenzo Lecce, hired Masters to insure his first company truck.
It’s been a true blessing to call the Ciccolinis lifelong friends. Congratulations on six remarkable decades of grit, patriotism, and entrepreneurial leadership.
Great news for Islanders. A cancer diagnosis is hard enough without having to worry about the cost of the medications you need. We're pleased to see @InfoPEI and @Health_PEI continue investing in affordable access to prescription drugs, helping more people get the care they need and easing the financial burden of cancer.
