Medicine has known how to treat type 2 diabetes for 230 years, got it right for 180 of them, and has spent the last 50 prescribing the cause.
1674: an Oxford physician tastes a diabetic's urine, finds it sweet, and names the disease for it.
1797: a British army surgeon puts a diabetic officer on meat and fat, nothing else. The sugar leaves his urine in days. He publishes the case.
1870: Paris is under siege and the bread runs out. The city's diabetics get better, and the doctor watching them writes it down and builds a career on it.
1870s: an Italian physician locks diabetics in a room with meat and water. They recover. Textbooks across Europe copy him.
1892: the most famous medical textbook in the English language prescribes meat, fat and green vegetables, and says starch is poison to the diabetic.
1916: the leading American diabetologist's own book lists carbohydrate at the bottom and fat at the top.
1921: insulin. A miracle for the child who makes none. And a tablet-shaped way out for everyone else.
1950s: the diet quietly loosens, because the drug can cover it.
1971: the American Diabetes Association recommends 45% of calories from carbohydrate.
1986: raised to 60%. For a disease whose diagnosis is a failure to handle carbohydrate.
2008: low-carbohydrate acknowledged, as an option, in a footnote.
2019: the same association admits low-carbohydrate eating has the most evidence of any diet for the condition.
2026: the diet sheet in the surgery still shows porridge, brown bread, potatoes and fruit.
For 180 years every doctor who looked at the disease fed it meat and fat and watched it go.
Then a drug arrived that let him stop looking, and the diet reversed, and the count has gone up every year since.
The oldest cure in the book is the one your doctor was never taught, and the book was his.
@KimPKAG4EVA In PA, the Judge of Elections and Inspectors of Elections are on the ballot every 4 years in each voting district. If no one runs for election, county election offices find people to work the election. You need to get informed on how you get yourself on the ballot.
@TheMorningSpew2 In a fire safe along with all of my childrens' birth certificates. When they needed them the first time I had them get copies so they would learn the process. These things are part of basic adulting.
First, no forensic audit was done. The ballots were just recounted. That’s like taking a bath in the same dirty water you used the first time.
Second, court cases were dismissed on lack of standing, not merit—the full evidence never got a Judicial hearing.
And as a reminder, a #PA Judge, not the State Legislature, ruled to extend mail ballot acceptance time. That clearly violates Article II Section I of the Constitution that gives State Legislatures sole, plenary power to administer election authority.
Anything to answer on that?
