BDXL Quad disks cost about $20ea on the consumer market, they can probably source them in bulk for like $15ea. Factor that plus printing, case, and art, multiply it by like 10-20 million, and it's not cheap.

I guarantee GTA 6 is going to be larger than 128GB. They don't want to waste money on multiple disks so they have you download the rest of the files.

We recognized that disks were an outdated way of transferring digital media due to faster internet speeds.

I think the desire to "collect" consumer goods for the sake of collecting is wasteful. A video game is software, and a plastic box with some fancy art adds nothing to it at it's core.

Lots of games on disk are not playable without internet, but people still say its "physical media"

Lots of them are too big for all the files to be on disk, so you have to download the last portion of them. Which means owning a disk does not mean you "own" it more than on an SSD.

Just more crap to end up in a land fill one day, when the installation files could have easily be attained over the internet instead of using a disc to get it from the developer to the player. It's why PC gamers stopped.
