@ryno_connor Found it. According to the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE):
10% of option contracts are exercised.
55%-60% of option contracts are closed out prior to expiration.
30%-35% of option contracts expire worthless (out-of-the-money with no intrinsic value.)

@ryno_connor They purchase call options because when/if the underlying stock goes up, its call options can go up exponentially. Call buyers sell their option to close the position. (One Feb 26 AMZN 3100 call option costs $1000 to buy, but $310,000 to exercise. Big difference.)
