CEO @UofUHealth, A. Lorris Betz Presidential Endowed Chair & Executive Vice President for Health Sciences @UUtah, Neurosurgeon. Building the Future of Health.
Happy 4th from the @UofUHealth team to all of you! We're building for the next 250 years and wish you, and our entire nation, a prosperous and healthy future!
One of the most promising uses of AI in health care is its potential to support better, more timely care without losing human connection.
@UofUHealth teams led by Jared Huber, MD, Ken Kawamoto, MD, PhD, MHS, and Abigail Papé, MD, MBA, are using an AI-assisted tool to support Heal at Home, a program that helps qualifying patients continue receiving hospital-level care from home.
I appreciate how practical this technology is and how it keeps clinical judgment and patient needs at the center.

Proud to share that @UUtah has been selected as one of 14 medical research centers in the @American_Heart Heart Transplant Research Network.
Heart transplantation is one of the most complex areas in medicine. Better ways to detect rejection, manage risk, and support patients after transplant can save lives.
Grateful to Dr. Josef Stehlik and our heart failure and transplant teams for the expertise and commitment they bring to this work. Excited for what we can contribute to the future of transplant care.

Really enjoyed reading through June’s highlights from across @UofUHealth on #GoodNotes.
Those achievements include @huntsmancancer expanding specialized care in Idaho, the Department of Dermatology’s residency graduation, research from @MoranEyeCenter on which infections pose the greatest risk of vision loss, and more.
Grateful for the people behind these accomplishments and the work happening throughout our system.

Thrilled to announce Dr. Randy Peterson has accepted a new appointment as vice president of health sciences initiatives for @UofUHealth.
Dr. Peterson is known across our campus community for his nine years as dean of @uofupharmacy, where he helped grow the college’s reputation, research efforts, and opportunities for students and faculty. In this new role, he will collaborate with leaders across U of U Health to advance initiatives across clinical care, research, education, and community collaboration.
Please join me in congratulating Dr. Peterson and thanking him for his continued leadership and service.
Pleased to share that Vivek Reddy, MD, MMM, was named chief health informatics officer for @UofUHealth.
As technology becomes more connected to how we care for patients and support clinicians, we need leaders who understand both the promise and the practical realities of that work. Dr. Reddy brings that perspective. Having served as interim in this role since May 2024, he’s helping us use health information technology in ways that truly improve care.
Grateful to have his expertise as we continue to think carefully about digital transformation and the future of clinical care. Congratulations, Dr. Reddy!
I appreciated the chance to get an inside look at the impactful work taking place at the @uofu_hmhi Contact Center. I watched how they worked seamlessly to problem-solve and provide calm, compassionate support for every caller.
This is patient-first care at its finest, walking individuals and families through every step of the process until they find the answers they need. Grateful for this team and their commitment to helping patients navigate our system and receive the care they need when they need it most.
Mental health care can be hard to navigate, especially when someone is already overwhelmed. @BobCarterMD visited the @uofu_hmhi Contact Center to learn how the team helps callers schedule care, answer coverage questions, and connect with crisis support.
I’ve been energized by conversations across @UofUHealth about AI and the future of health care.
The promise of this technology isn’t just about moving through tasks more quickly. It’s helping us work smarter, identify needs earlier, reduce friction, and create more room for compassionate care.
Dr. Ken Kawamoto, chief health AI transformation officer, shares what it means to become an AI-forward health system. Learn more on #GoodNotes: https://t.co/jvWtmIMLNA

Yesterday’s groundbreaking at The Point was a meaningful step toward a vision Utahns have shaped for years: a place to live, work, learn, own businesses, build a community, and receive world-class health care.
@UofUHealth is honored to be part of that future as The Point’s exclusive health care provider. Easy access to high-quality care is an essential part of what helps a community thrive. As our state continues to grow, U of U is committed to growing with it.
This opportunity also extends beyond clinical care. Across Utah, U of U Health supports nearly 31,000 jobs and helps strengthen the health care workforce, advance medical innovation, and improve community well-being.
My thanks to @GovCox, Draper Mayor Troy Walker, @PresidentUofU Taylor Randall, University of Utah Board of Trustees, University of Utah Health System Board, the Utah Legislature, Lowry Snow, @ThePointUtah, Wadsworth Development Group, Dan Lundergan, Gina Hawley, Ischa Jensen, and many teams across U of U Health. We’re excited to be part of this new community!
Love the entrepreneurial culture here @UUtah as referenced in this recent study, highlighting the odds of creating a unicorn company after studying at the University of Utah.
One of my favorite unicorns here at the U is @ARUPLabs. Created by entrepreneurial pathologists @UofUHealth, ARUP is now one of the largest reference laboratories in the United States
If you are a student or faculty member wanting to immerse yourself in a culture where entrepreneurial ideas are embraced, come join us at the U!!
The University of Utah is ranked No. 1 for the odds of alumni starting a unicorn company, a Stanford study finds.
"Our students and faculty don’t just study big ideas — they build them," said @UUtah president Taylor Randall.
