@jeanmare_gag I don't read romance when it's the primary genre because I just don't care to have a plot revolving around falling in love. (Though when it's smut under the guise of romance...)
Also tend to think too many primary plots get bogged down in love subplot nonsense.

Also how to turn real feelings and motions into jokes for a cheap laugh as a coping mechanism. Also how to procrastinate like a champ. Avoiding all that work can be very tiring, after all.

@jennhockley I'd say it's impossible to write something that doesn't have some kind of basis, however small, on something you already know. Ever have those moments where you've written something or come up with a concept and it feels vaguely... Familiar?

@EndlessMidnigh1 I've found listening to some nice music, usually without vocals or minimal vocals, helps coax out that creative, emotional part of my mind and keep my anxiety-added logical part under wraps so I can write more than one sentence without analyzing it as I go.

@Bobcat_syfy Whatever is important to the narrative. Also need to avoid infodumping or getting into paragraphs of exposition that just aren't needed. I look at the Discworld series as a good example of worldbuilding.

@Bobcat_syfy Generally speaking narratives revolve around some sort of conflict or a journey. Even then, a journey tends to have conflict in the sense of a problem that needs to be overcome. Man vs man, man vs nature, man vs himself, etc.

@debbieiancu Quite a number die. MCs and side characters alike. Hell, in my WiP, one of the MCs, an immortal, spends a great deal of her time trying to find a way to die.
People shouldn't go out of their way to kill off the cast, but if no one dies, where's the risk and tension?

@Heather_Glomb This is rather leading and unfair, no? My experience has been that *equal* consideration would benefit men (and myself) since at the moment women are favored in candidate selection for my particular field. Or, at least at the mid-seniority level.

Then a solid week where I was too afraid to write anything.
Now struggling for 1k a day.
I'm always impressed by folks that can power through it. There's a remarkable amount of discipline involved...
