@TheFootyFeed Ah yes, that famous Englishman, George Best!
You also missed out Kane, Charlton, Bryan Robson, Butcher and Keegan. Banks, Shilton, Clemence and Pickford are all ahead of Seaman.
@Diseasel22@LeftwaffenWatch In the context of cricket, wicket has multiple meanings, including the rectangular strip that the stumps and bails sit either end of.
The act of bowling a batsman out is a wicket. The batsman also defends his wicket.
@sazza_jay The remeberence poppy was inspired by a poem called 'in flanders fields' and became an emblem of remember thanks to French humanitarian Anna Guerin. So, no, not political at all.
@mickmcSNB If accurate, then it reflects that a) they want the club to become self-sufficient, which is perfectly reasonable.
B) that they don't wish to back Moyes heavily if he is unlikely to be manager in 12 months, which is sensible.
C) Moyes works best with a limited budget.
@FollowEverton The club do want to be self-sustaining, and a modest budget might be a reflection on that.
Equally, it could be kidology to ensure they are not paying a premium.
It may reflect that they don't want to back a manager in the last year of his contract.
Or could be bollocks.
@EvertonNewsFeed A seemingly nice man who bought into the club. His blend of attacking football built on the solid foundations he inherited was a joy to watch in his first season. To his credit, each season had something on it but massively underperformed with a talented squad!
@ShaySweeney1962 Is that the point he is making? Or is it more drawing a comparison with Leicester over the last 10 years, which is in itself an interesting one.
A league title, FA cup, 3 runs to last 8 in Europe but also 3 relegations.
V winning nothing but being a constant in PL.
@dantrublu He didn't!
He finished 11th with Stones, Jags, peak Baines & Coleman, Barry, Mccarthy, Barkley, Lukaku, Deulodeu, Mirallas, Naismith.
It was arguably our best side this century.
Moyes would have had that team top 5 comfortably and still felt like an under achievement.
@GaryBri99293774@Kalan76529590 There are limitations to any system when defending corners. In this instance, Tarkowski was outmuscled.
The broader point was dropping points in injury in three consecutive matches. Having not done so previously all season.
@GaryBri99293774@Kalan76529590 With respect, zonal marking is nothing new, and besides, it was not just corners.
We threw away 4 points in injury time in 3 consecutive games. All largely self-inflicted.
That would have been Europa league qualification and an extra chance to finally win something.
@GaryBri99293774@Kalan76529590 The old Clough quote about football being a simple game made complicated by those who know better, springs to mind here.
Everyone in the ground knew what LFC would do at that corner, the players just need to prevent their best header getting a free run. Simple as that.
@ShaySweeney1962@JayF1878 You're right. Slightly ironically, it was all built on very solid home form.
In a nutshell, that is Moyes' limitations. His ultra conservatism at key games. The 2012 cup semi final being a classic example.
