NEWS: Covenant just put a Tesla Semi through one of America's toughest trucking routes.

The major logistics carrier recently completed a two-week test of a loaded Tesla Semi across California for one of its largest customers.

The final test was the Grapevine on I-5, the highest point of the interstate in California at 4,160 feet. The steepest section runs at a 6% grade for 5 miles.

Matt McLelland, Covenant's VP of Sustainability and Innovation, shared the verdict:

"Our driver was amazed at the performance of the Tesla Semi and felt a level of confidence that was hard to match in a diesel truck."

On the descent, regenerative braking did most of the work and sidestepped the brake heat issues that tax diesel trucks. On the climb, the Semi held momentum on the steep grade.
