@martinplaut You live free 🆓 rent in Eritrea 🇪🇷 , in Libya 🇱🇾 there are many African people even from Syrian. Even the picture you posted they don’t look Eritrea 🇪🇷
They keep calling #Eritrea “tiny,” but size has never been the true measure of a nation.
We could comfortably fit Belgium, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Djibouti, and more within our borders with room to spare.
Now add our people’s unstoppable “can-do” mindset, resilience, determination, strategic location along the Red Sea, and vast internal wealth and potential.
A country should never be measured by the size of its map alone, but by the strength of its people, its resources, its history, and what it is capable of building for the future.
So when they call Eritrea “small,” just smile. Because our “small” is clearly much bigger than they think. 😉🇪🇷

A wild and almost unknown land in East Africa: bordered by #Sudan, #Kenya, British #Somaliland, #Eritrea, and what was then Italian Somaliland.
'Free Abyssinia' – thats how the British news agency in a 1941 Reuters report described the land we call Ethiopia today. This rare archival video footage reveals significant historical details that strongly indicate Eritrea was already recognized as a distinct and far advanced country long before being federated with or annexed by Ethiopia (Abyssinia).
Key points from this 1941 British second world war report:
1)Abyssinia is described as “a wild and almost unknown land in East Africa bordered by Eritrea” – explicitly listing Eritrea as a separate neighboring country.
2) Abyssinia (Ethiopia) is called “the first country to be restored to its own people” after being occupied by Fascist Italy and its Axis allies, and other nations under Nazi like Holland, France, .... will also be liberated by the allies.
3) The freedom of Abyssinia was carried out by the British Empire
4) Emperor Haile Selassie was greeted upon his return by the British General Commander in East Africa, General Cunningham (commander of forces in Abyssinia). He was in Addis Ababa months before Haile Selasie.
5) Nigerian troops (serving under the British) formed the guard of honor.
Footage of central Addis Ababa in 1941, around the Menelik Palace, shows a city of mud houses and dirt roads with virtually no modern buildings – in stark contrast to Asmara (Eritrea), which at the time was already a planned, modern city with paved roads, European-style architecture, and advanced infrastructure built during Italian colonial rule."
History in motion.

From Asmara to Nha Trang — this is #Eritrea, seen and celebrated. 🇪🇷
She is right about the Italians, but she may have forgotten another major chapter of our history: Ethiopia’s roughly 30-year rule over Eritrea and the long struggle against efforts to weaken our identity, unity, culture, languages, and institutions.
🇪🇷 Under Haile Selassie:
Divide-and-rule tactics, the dismantling and relocation of industries, suppression of Eritrean political institutions and languages, arrests, killings, and attempts to weaken our distinct national identity.
They failed.
🇪🇷 Under Mengistu:
The brutal counterinsurgency strategy often described as “to kill the fish, drain the sea,” mass killings, aerial bombardments, destruction of villages, and a Soviet-backed military machine deployed against Eritrean fighters and civilians.
It failed.
🇪🇷 Under Meles:
Another devastating war. Repeated military offensives, economic pressure, the confiscation of Eritrean-owned property, and the mass deportation and uprooting of Eritreans from Ethiopia, families separated, livelihoods destroyed, and people expelled under humiliating circumstances. Eritrea later endured years of international sanctions and isolation.
Yet Eritrea endured.
🇪🇷 And now, under Abiy:
We again hear constant rhetoric about Ethiopia’s need for sovereign access to the sea, language that understandably raises fears among Eritreans who know exactly what previous generations sacrificed to defend the country’s sovereignty and coastline.
Different leaders. Different eras. Different tactics.
But one lesson keeps repeating: Eritrea is still standing.
Our history has taught us that Eritrean sovereignty, identity, culture, land, and sea were never gifts from anyone. Generations paid an extraordinary price for them.
We survived colonialism.
We survived annexation and war.
We survived bombardment.
We survived displacement.
We survived sanctions and isolation.
And we are still here as one strong and united country. 🇪🇷

Abiy Ahmed’s regime is systematically driving the Horn of Africa into instability in exchange for UAE dirty money and political support.
It is deepening repression inside Ethiopia, fueling regional tensions, and pursuing policies that have displaced millions. Now it also faces serious allegations of supporting forces accused of atrocities against civilians in Sudan.
The time for empty statements of condemnation is over. It is time for severe economic sanctions targeting Abiy’s regime, its financial networks, and the war economy sustaining it. The future of the Horn of Africa cannot be left at the mercy of an authoritarian regime and the foreign patrons financing it.
