I used to think uploading music through platforms like DistroKid or TuneCore was all there was to it, but I’ve learned there’s a whole side of royalties many creatives miss out on if they’re not registered with publishers or collecting societies. #CBAForAfrica26@cbaforafrica
Hi everyone! I thought it would be great to share my experience and journey since enrolling in the @cbaforafrica program. Over the past few months, I've been able to reflect on and summarize some of the key lessons, opportunities, and valuable insights I've gained...
How much success in music today requires business structure and not just talent and how structure is what transforms the industry from and informal hustle into something globally competitive and economically viable.
One of the biggest things I’ve learned from the CBA program so far is that there is really no fixed blueprint or fast route to success in the creative industry like many of us once believed.

It’s been about 3 months in @cbaforafrica and it’s been months of learning and unlearning. Learning that what the music business should be like is quite different from what the music business is like in Nigeria, and I like that they’re training us for that. Because there’s….
Before #CBAForAfrica26, I thought the music business was mostly about talent.
Now I’m learning it’s also about community, storytelling, positioning, culture, and understanding people.
The biggest lesson so far?
Real growth happens when creative people build together, not alone.
It’s been over 3 months into #CBAForAfrica26, and learning more about IP, contracts, and rights, as well as understanding how valuable an entertainment lawyer is to a creative and to the ecosystem as a whole, has been amazing.
@cbaforafrica
Standard admin deals are cool, but engineering co-publishing equity for high-leverage catalogs is where the real game is. @cbaforafrica doesn't just teach the music business; it simulates the real creative economy. @GodwinTom dropping premium gem!🎓 #CBAForAfrica26
@theford_god@cbaforafrica@GodwinTom Also it boosts both parties to increase sales by finding creative ways to be innovative and increase portfolio reach
#CBAForAfrica26 is already shifting how I think about leadership, execution, and impact. I’m learning that real change goes beyond ideas, it’s about consistency, collaboration, and building solutions that truly matter.Grateful to be learning @cbaforafrica
One thing I’ve really enjoyed is how practical the learning has been especially diving into music business, publishing, and creative entrepreneurship, with real-life examples that make everything easier to understand and relate to.
@MANAGER_SHEGS The whole ecosystem and each part contributes to the whole from contract management to talent management and the production of a record aligning to the identity of the artists to their audience
Understanding key aspects of music publishing royalties from a composition/songwriting and a master recording one translating to added value with mechanical, sync or performance royalties has been key on this journey through @cbaforafrica#CBAForAfrica2026
