In my speech at the World Economic Forum today, I addressed three frequently asked and important questions: When will Russia’s war against Ukraine end? Is the Third World War possible? Is it time to negotiate with Putin?
🧵
First-ever meeting with Rwandan President @PaulKagame.
I informed President Kagame of the Peace Formula. The voice of African states is important to putting it into action.
Rwanda's representative attended the fourth Peace Formula meeting of advisors. This send an important signal to other African countries.
Ukraine has established an embassy in Rwanda and is interested in strengthening ties with the region and exporting agricultural goods.
We also discussed efforts to consolidate support for Ukraine among African nations.
I met with the Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam Pham Minh Chinh.
I thanked Viet Nam for its support of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as humanitarian assistance.
We noted the importance of intensifying our relations based on the long history of our ties.
I invited Viet Nam to support the implementation of Ukraine’s Peace Formula.
The Prime Minister and I also discussed ways to increase bilateral contacts at various levels.
Revenge for the shelling of Ukrainian cities.
Our warriors destroyed a russian BM-21 Grad MLRS on the left bank of the Kherson region using an FPV drone.

I spoke with @GiorgiaMeloni to congratulate Italy on assuming the G7 presidency and thank it for its consistent support within the G7 and on Ukraine’s EU accession path.
I informed Prime Minister Meloni of Russia’s recent mass strikes against Ukraine.
I am grateful to Italy and personally to Giorgia for their willingness to continue strengthening Ukraine’s air shield. Additional air defense saves lives and sustains normal life in our cities.
We also discussed joint defense production and the contribution that Ukraine and Italy can make in strengthening not only our two nations but the entire Europe and global security.
We paid special attention to the upcoming Peace Formula meeting of advisors as well as our joint work on bilateral security guarantees for Ukraine.
Our people are home. Today, we returned over 200 warriors and civilians from Russian captivity.
Soldiers, sergeants, and officers. Armed Forces, National Guard, Navy, and Border Guards. Some of the defenders fought in Mariupol and Azovstal.
I thank everyone who, despite all difficulties, brings our people home. I am grateful to our defenders. We are making every effort to return all of our people who are still in Russian captivity.

In just a few days between December 29th and now, Russia has used about 300 missiles and over 200 “Shahed” drones against Ukraine.
Prior to Ukraine, no country in the world had ever successfully repulsed such combined attacks with the use of drones and missiles, including air-launched ballistic missiles. Only today, 10 Kinzhals were shot down.
I am grateful to every warrior in our Air Forces, all fighters in mobile air defense groups, every anti-aircraft gunner, and everyone throughout the world who is assisting Ukraine by providing weapons to defend our skies.
Each additional air defense system and missile saves more lives. It is here, in Ukraine, and with our air defense, that we must demonstrate that democracies are capable of protecting lives from all types of terror.
If we fail to achieve this task in Ukraine now, Russian terror will further spread throughout Europe and beyond. The Russian leadership's sense of impunity, forged over decades of unrestricted authority, has already resulted in a lot of suffering and loss of life.
Russia must confront the responsibility for taking lives as well as the power of those who protect them.
Congratulations to @AlexanderdeCroo and Belgium on assuming the Presidency of the Council of the EU. I wish @EU2024BE to be fruitful and enhance European unity and strength. We look forward to working together to advance Ukraine's EU accession.
We’re starting the year with active work to further strengthen Ukraine, particularly our air defense, in the wake of brutal Russian air attacks.
I just had my first call this year with @JustinTrudeau. We focused primarily on security. I informed him about Russia’s most recent missile and drone attacks on our cities and villages.
On New Year’s Eve alone, our air defense forces managed to shoot down over 80 drones. Unfortunately, there were also hits that damaged civilian infrastructure in the Sumy, Odesa, Lviv, Poltava, Kyiv, Donetsk, and Kherson regions.
I am grateful to Prime Minister Trudeau for his willingness to assist us in protecting the Ukrainian sky, particularly by providing additional NASAMS systems and missiles.
We also discussed our work on security guarantees and agreed that our teams will soon start a bilateral dialogue to prepare a relevant agreement.
We also talked about the preparation of the fourth Peace Formula meeting of advisors in Davos in January. I appreciate Justin and Canada assisting our relevant efforts on a global scale.
I am also grateful for the reassurance that Canada’s support for Ukraine will continue this year, both in terms of military and financial assistance.
We value cooperation with Canada and we appreciate every step in support of our state and our independence. 🇺🇦🇨🇦
Happy New Year!
The biggest wish for 2024 is Ukraine’s Victory!
Every day our brave warriors bring this day closer. We are grateful to everyone who #StandWithUkraine.
Together, we are stronger!
⚡️The day before, I signed several decrees - decrees about honor for our soldiers, about our gratitude to them. Almost 700 soldiers - Volodymyr Zelenskyi
I want to especially thank everyone who is in combat, on combat posts, on combat missions now. To all who are at the front. Who protects our Ukrainian sky even now, on this day. Kropyvnytskyi and region. Unfortunately, Russian strikes again today. And the boys will protect our sky tonight and tomorrow.
To all those who treat our soldiers, who are currently on duty in the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, in local authorities. And to everyone who uses the New Year to close the next gathering for the boys on the front lines.
I thank everyone who works and will work at our defense enterprises - without days off. And to everyone who, starting tomorrow, January 1, without wasting time, will continue communication with the partners of Ukraine, so that next year our state will have as much strength and means as possible to fight against Russian evil.
Thank you all! Glory to Ukraine!
I presented almost 700 of our warriors with state awards these days. Our Armed Forces, including Air Forces, Navy, Intelligence, combat medics, and others.
They have all demonstrated their worth on the frontlines, in combat brigades, and in protecting all of Ukraine and all of our people.
These are the people, brave Ukrainians, who safeguard us all on December 31st, January 1st, and every holiday and workday.
They are our people's strength and pride. And I am especially grateful to those who are now engaged in combat, at combat posts, or performing combat tasks.
