@jaycaspiankang Curious what your take is on how NHJ didn't realize her kid couldn't read or do math. I'm in CA and grade inflation (AP Calc A, 1 on test, can't divide) is hyper-real. CA has SBAC, is there no NY version?! Is SBAC racist?!
@TheStalwart In LA it lives just east of the 405 in Carson, commuters see it every day! I used to live near the Santa Monica airport and one day got to see the blimp do touch-n-go landing practice. Ridiculous craft!
@katiebakes You know it's a non-profit and you are making a donation, right? If you just want to park buy a pass, it's $195 for 365 days. Also, many CA public libraries have them available for checkout (free!). I bet that group does good work, though.
@nkulw She had already stepped down from MIT at the time of the allegations, and she didn't publish a book. Unless I'm missing something the pile-on is mostly directly related to the book? Before that attention-grab this seemed pretty niche?
@jaycaspiankang I know and respect your troll but honestly I couldn't tell if you were slightly serious? You write (well+seriously) about the insanity of youth sports. Sunscreen is similar relgion? My kids play water polo (Socal) + ocean lifeguard + melanoma is no joke (at all). I was confused!
@Frances_Coppola 7 of the 43 states do NOT allow "tipped minimum wage." CA minimum is 16.90 and many food service pay $20. Yes tipping is nice and you should but it's not "because the workers are paid less." Everyone in CA retail makes the same $20, you tip the cashiers at Target and CVS?
@jbarro Two things: no cameras is absolutely bonkers (game film, anyone, on a serious team?! WTF). Second, NO ONE(*) is getting a scholarship. But, it might help you get in, and it might make private "cost the same as public" and it's a nice resume item. (*) check your HS signing day.
@jbarro My kids play a niche sport - water polo. I'd call it a positive experience with multiple skill levels and a low barrier to entry. Few scholarships but a lot of kids could play D3 if they wanted (only ~50 schools have a team). But it's very different than soccer, baseball, bball.
@TheStalwart@TheStalwart I re-read your post, are you saying pressure / repercussions to donate? Or just inequitable? I can say CA is 100% unfair, but cannot legally force anything. If you ask, the school is paying for a field trip and sports equipment (yes even a speedo for swim team).
@tylermacro10@UapostropheR@TheStalwart No, within large districts there is huge variance (source: neighbor is a SDUSD elementary principal). Last year ran a Title I school. This year, SAME DISTRICT, runs an elementary school in La Jolla whose PTA pays for certificated MTSS FTE for each grade. Stop.
@TheStalwart@tylermacro10 Made up. LCFF defines funding floor, basic aid districts get property tax funding > LCFF. PTA/PTSA/Foundations raise millions (see: Canyon Crest Foundation (one HS), $2.4mn raised in 24). Also, not ever required. Always FAPE.
@jbarro The interesting thing to me is, saying that out loud on other social networks will get you banned and tarred as a third reich eugenicist. I look to the NYT comments on stories like this, and they overwhelmingly support Singal. This is far worse science than early covid!
@amyforsandiego Your story is wrong. SDUSD did not rent the gym, the non-profit CCA foundation did. That group is crooked (director made >$150k!) and can rent to anyone they want and keep the money. https://t.co/tJUwypyFuI is what you need to know! Shame on SDUSD for not fixing it sooner.
@OrinKerr Is "that's him in the photo" always sufficient for arrest? Lots of exculpatory evidence (didn't even call Amazon to see if he was working). Seemed like lazy detectives all around, and this was just one more hole in the swiss cheese.
@TheWapplehouse@TheWapplehouse you omitted the part where the same engine and system are common on the a320neo. But please blame Boeing. Maybe a valid trade off and the Vancouver landing shows what can happen in a few seconds. Maybe engines exploding is worse?
@jaycaspiankang It’s a war on poor people. Who won’t notice because of the 5k DOGE check that they too now live in Flint, MI. Our 401ks will never be fatter, though. We are fine.
