Stop competing in music.. I get it you wanna “compete” to motivate you to be the best u can be like Kobe and Bron and Jordan
This ain’t basketball tho
It ain’t even a sport
It’s music
There’s no refs or points or a shot clock.. the “most Grammys” or the most streams don’t mean shit because at the end of the day, nobody gonna crown u #1 anyway
#1 Billboard is amazing but it’s not forever and there’s always going to be someone else out there with more #1’s than you
It’s a non stop loophole of depression if u keep trying to compete
Enjoy life and the process, win the accolades and keep leveling up but keep it about the music
Because at the end of the day we are here to serve people with music that hopefully resonates and creates positive energy for the people who hear it
@dacolon@YaleNeuro@YalePsychology@WuTsaiYale Congrats @dacolon, that’s amazing! Much respect brother, keep shining your light with the amazing research you & your colleagues continue to do. Respeto from Rio Piedras & Miami. Abrazos mano.
@Dart_Adams Man, tell ‘em @Dart_Adams. Black Milk is on another level as an MC/producer. Sound of the City, Popular Demand & Tronic were part of the soundtrack to my years in Harlem. “The Matrix” feat Monch, Price & Preem 🔥🔥🔥
@illmindPRODUCER Man, this album got me thru some tough nights as new father w/ 2 yr & 6 month old in PR. When kids & wife were asleep, I’d escape to balcony to bump this in earbuds while boxing. Respect @illmindPRODUCER@JoellOrtiz. “Latino, Pt 2” es fuego
Your words continue to inspire me @illmindPRODUCER since they’ve done when we first met in 2010. Whether thru your radio show, BLAP or Crap critiques, podcasts, Pass the Aux events, sound kits & so much more, you’ve helped me along my way as a producer. Thank u friend. OneLove
I worked and struggled for countless hours/days/years while being broke and ignored
Now that I’m successful, I’m going to accept every flower thrown my way and embrace and celebrate every win that I experience
And if I feel like doing them publicly, I will
I’m not worried about people who feel insecure about my success
They just need help getting out of the rut they are in
I’m not a therapist
But because I care, I’ve done all the things… beat critiques, motivational stuff, worldwide studio tours to sit with people
I helped to popularize a now 10 Billion $$ per year industry (sound packs)
I started the first producer club that helped change the mindset of thousands of producers
I started the first music producer podcast before people could pronounce the word “podcast”
I built the first web3 music PFP that actually and literally helps people connect with one another
All because I care and because it gives me more purpose
That doesn’t even include my music catalog of almost 70 Million records sold
Of course I’ve had many failures too, but people don’t see them
If this post makes you uncomfortable, that fine. We’re just not on the same wavelength.
@Stu_Bangas No doubt! I literally picked up the classic Thundercats shirt when I saw someplace around recently. Still remember seeing that first episode, that stuff sticks wit u haha
@UFOFev Say that again my brother. Paying it fwd always. Each one teach one. Laying the foundation for the next generation. When we support each other & move like music ninjas, no one can fux wit us. From San Juan 2 El Barrio, with love.
@LovePERFECTION Absolutely couldn’t agree more @LovePERFECTION, it’s out of control in LA rn. I’ve been coming in & out of the city over the last year & seen it even get worse in that time. City has no solution. Bad in NYC, MIA, SJU too, but LA on anotha level.
