A lot of gender discourse would possibly be resolved if everyone could just have a nice heart-to-heart chat with one another about our castration anxiety, but we can’t do that, of course, because of our castration anxiety.
One of the most interesting aspects of being a Psychoanalyst/psychotherapist, is being present in observing the lengths that patients go to, to defend themselves from knowing who they are, what they want and where they stand in their life & in their unconscious desire as well.
I see posts about the great “therapy” people get from AI. When I say it can’t substitute for a human relationship, a flood of replies tells me I’m wrong
It took one session to get here with chatGPT
You’re choosing illusion
That’s a problem real psychotherapy could address
One of the ways we have failed as a society and in healthcare is we have yet to to destigmatize and demystify FND,, conversion disorder, or conversion, or what used to be called hysteria, even though Freud tried to set us on a path to treat it emphatically long ago.
I think John Searle is right: even if you are a determinist and reject #FreeWill, you need to choose your meal in a restaurant, you cannot wait to see what happens!

I loved the role play episode. After 5 years psych training in UK, it was almost more useful to listen to you two than all that previous education.
Cannot believe our book is ready after 5 years of writing and collaboration.
I hope that it serves as useful in the overall existing bunch of literature out there for our industry.

Have a look as two moves from the KING protocol show a localised effect to the internal tissues.
The first move is the Transverse Processes move, the second is the manual circumlaryngeal massage, the move most commonly cited and measured in the literature. #vocalmassage
Criticizing the biomedical model of mental disorders doesn’t mean denying that biological factors can play a role in some forms of mental distress. It means rejecting the oversimplified idea that DSM-defined disorders are brain diseases or chemical imbalances, which distorts public understanding.
And yes, psychiatrists now claim to follow the “biopsychosocial” model—then they should have no issue with me criticizing the biomedical model because there’s been no real effort to correct public misconceptions.
That said, I’m not totally satisfied with the biopsychosocial answer. In practice, the field still treats mental disorders as primarily biological, as its main function remains prescribing medication.
Epidemiological studies put prevalence of narcissistic personality disorder, defined by DSM criteria, at around 1%. Some studies with looser assessment criteria put it at 2-4%
When someone sees “narcissists” everywhere... is that information about the world or about 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮?
