Following its award of a €110m non-reimbursable 🇵🇹 State Grant, #Savannah was one of just six companies invited to attend the public signing ceremony for the investment grants contracted with @aicep representing a total investment package of over €3 billion.

Of the six selected companies, four (Savannah Resources PLC, Lifthium Energy, @topsoe_official and CALB Group Co., Ltd.) represent investments within the #lithiumbattery value chain.

In this context, the #BarrosoLithiumProject stands out as the only lithium mining project included and the only project located in Portugal’s interior.

In his speech, the 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐋𝐮í𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐨 highlighted the importance of building value chains in critical sectors, stressing that extraction must be carried out with the lowest possible environmental impact, and that for Portugal to increase prosperity, it must “create more wealth”, become “more productive” and operate with “greater agility”.

As Savannah’s CEO Emanuel Proença stated, it is “a great source of pride to be part of this small group of industrial projects recognised for their potential for Portugal”

Savannah Resources is proud to share that the European Commission has officially selected the #BarrosoLithiumProject as one of the first Strategic Projects under the EU’s Critical Raw Materials Act (#CRMA).

𝐀𝐬 𝐚 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐜 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐨 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐮𝐦 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐭 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦:

Coordinated support from the European Commission, Member States, and financial institutions
Enhanced access to finance and connections with key offtakers
Streamlined permitting — no more than 27 months for extraction projects

This is a major step forward for both Savannah and Europe’s green #energytransition.

We will now engage with the European Commission to leverage this momentum, while continuing our efforts to complete the RECAPE and Definitive Feasibility Study by the end of 2025, targeting first production in 2027.

The company has secured eligibility for an Untied Loan Guarantee (UFK) from the Federal Republic of Germany for a loan up to USD 270 million for construction of the Barroso Lithium Project. The UFK would cover 80% of the loan and provides an attractive basis for a Project Finance loan.

𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬:

🔹Potential funding is based on the supply of lithium to Germany through Savannah’s non-binding offtake Heads of Terms with AMG for 90ktpa spodumene concentrate for 10 years.

🔹A loan could be sourced from Germany’s KfW IPEX-Bank and/or other banks.

🔹Any loan would be capped at 60% of Project CAPEX, which Savannah’s 2023 Scoping Study reported at USD 280 million).

🔹This financing represents a key step in securing full funding for the project, which is critical to Europe’s lithium supply and the growing electric vehicle market.

Savannah, KfW IPEX-Bank, and AMG shall move into the “𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞” of KfW IPEX-Bank’s and Euler Hermes AG’s processes. The company will also continue to pursue additional funding sources and provide updates as the financing process progresses.

#SAV reports ‘highest-grade lithium intercepts to date’ from Pinheiro. The results highlight a new high-grade zone of spodumene lithium mineralization within the Western Pegmatite at Pinheiro, identified as the first deposit to be mined when the #Barroso #Lithium Project begins production. We look forward to announcing more assay results from Pinheiro once we have received from the lab.

Dale Ferguson, #Savannah Technical Director comments that the team are ‘delighted with these intercepts from the drilling undertaken recently at Pinheiro, which include the best lithium intercepts we have produced to date on the whole Project’, and #CEO Emanuel Proença added that the results are a ‘great reminder of the Project's remaining geological potential’.

1. Received approval from the environmental regulator for our Barroso Lithium Project (BLP)
2. Released a new scoping study demonstrating post-tax NPV of US$953m for the BLP
3. Successfully completed a £6.5m fundraise
4. Appointed Emanuel Proença as CEO

6. Commenced our 2023/24 drilling programme, completing 24 of the planned 60 holes in the first phase as of 30 November
7. Continued to engage proactively with the project’s key stakeholder groups and those concerned about its development
